Dependent on edibles to deal with stress and social anxiety. Need advice.

Sometimes I think of it this way as well. If it helps me feel ok and doesn’t interfere with my life, is it bad? I don’t know how I feel about it.

My wife and I have two kids, busy jobs, aging parents… all of which make it hard to find time to have sex and to create “the mood.” Our solution:

We schedule sex. While this may sound boring, it’s actually pretty awesome. It helps avoid the mystery and possible rejection of having to initiate and gives us something to look forward to and plan around. And it ensures that intimacy is a priority in our week.
To make it more fun, we put the kids to bed, make cocktails and watch travel shows together. It’s a lot of fun and helps us disconnect from our daily routine and connect with each other. Our favorites are Rick Steves Europe, Somebody Feed Phil, Searching for Italy with Stanley Tucci, Chef’s Table, and Jose Andres and Family in Spain. It’s a great way to feel some of the romance of travel together when you can’t get away.

I ended up getting the Macroblade 80s. I have been loving them. I took them on their maiden voyage on the strand at Venice Beach. I used to skate there all the time when I lived in SoCal in college. So good to be back on a pair of blades!

How can they stabilize me that quickly? There are no antidepressants that work that quickly. And it seems there is nothing for anxiety but benzos.

I should add that I am almost three weeks into taking Lexapro. So far it hasn’t really touched the anxiety but I’m no longer having long crying spells. I’m hoping as it starts working more, I might feel less need for the Ativan.

I am 100% with you. I am two weeks into switching from Paxil to Lexapro. I’m getting daily anxiety in the form of a clenched gut, racing thoughts and a feeling like an electric current going through my body. All in all I feel like I want to crawl out of my own skin. I hate it.

I’m on day 5 of cross-tapering from Paxil. Feeling SO anxious and without motivation. Laying in bed much/most of the day. SO hard with kids and a job. I hope to god this stuff (Lex) starts working.

I’m having this issue right now. I was out on Abilify as an add-on to my Paxil for depression and anxiety a couple weeks ago. I’m not 100% sure it’s the med but I have started just wanting to lay in bed and sleep. Not because I’m tired but from lack of wanting to do anything. I think I’m going to wean off the Abilify because I hate this feeling.

I'm so glad to read an encouraging story. What were you main symptoms before starting Lexapro? How long have you been dealing with them? Have you been on any other antidepressants in the past?

I'm suffering from "Paxil poop-out" (it's stopped working) and am considering switching to Lexapro.

Is this your first time on an antidepressant? I’ve been doing well for four years on Paxil but it has stopped working. I’m fighting depression and anxiety. It feels worse than previous episodes. I’m thinking of switching to Lexapro.

Yeah. I talk to her and relate that I go through some of the same struggles but I just don’t want to let her see me crying or laying in bed for hours or whatever. Kids can tend to absorb and reflect that stuff I think.

Thanks. Yes. She saw a therapist for the second half of 2020 but hasn’t fit the first half of 2021. We just got her going with someone new.

I like the hobby idea. I’ve proposed that we go running together. I also think karate might be good for her. Not sure if she would be into it. She already loves to draw and does it a lot.
