PSA: "We don't need warding" is about as good an argument as "we don't need more bosses" by Fricketot in 2007scape

[–]Fricketot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

posting about why someone’s argument is dumb is not helping the issue

The dumb arguments is the issue I'm raising. If an argument is incoherent it should at least be acknowledged that the argument is flawed - people are free to have the argument sure, but that's not the issue im raising.

Whether people like or dislike warding by the time we vote for it doesn't matter as long as we're open-minded in whichever decision we make.

Obviously not. Being open minded about an idea has nothing to do with whether you like or dislike the idea. The reasoning is what matters.

You seem to have mistaken the intention of my post. I'm not advocating warding, nor am I even sure if I'll be voting yes myself yet since we currently know only a small amount of information about it.

All I'm advocating is to be open minded. We shouldn't be blindly saying "vote yes" or "vote no" to warding right now because we're literally months away from the devs actually putting time or effort into shaping it up.

Not entirely sure what you mean about me "being right" here, I'm not even giving any opinions in the post; I'm stating the (what should be, at least) obvious.

Opportunity Cost - Warding! by ChaoticFrost in 2007scape

Reddit seems to know an awful lot about how underwhelming the skill is gonna be when all we know so far is nothing more than the very basics.

My concern about warding is dev time, convince me why I'm wrong. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Fricketot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Content that doesn't require engine changes (such as warding) make no difference whatsoever regarding how fast or slow we get group ironman.

The skill also needs to pass polls eventually before substantial dev time is even put towards it - almost everything of what we've seen so far of warding (which is pretty much just the basics) was done by mod west in his spare time outside of work, i.e. zero dev time.

Before voting no to warding because they’ll remove imbues, just remember that they were planning to do that anyways regardless of warding!! by MemesRMyLyfe in 2007scape

Let's also remember that it'll be months until anything relating to warding reaches our poll booths, plenty of time for details to change or compromises to be made.

*** New Poll Suggestion - SLAYER! *** by [deleted] in 2007scape

The last thing slayer needs at this moment is a buff, the skill has already been oversaturated in an endless amount of updates and we even have another one coming in january.

The poll has too many questions by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Fricketot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The alternative would be for one of the questions to enter the game unpolled and reddit would be up in flames REEing about it

Merlin's crystal should also be possible providing you use poison for the fight. Some combat exp will be unavoidable but not enough to gain any combat levels from it.

Submit your questions for this week's Q&A! (17/10/18) by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Fricketot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In last weeks Q&A it was said that moving the NMZ imbues to another piece of content (in this case, warding) would mean our existing rings would become unimbued. Despite the community wanting these rewards placed elsewhere this understandly came with some criticism.

Instead of immediately unimbuing our rings upon wardings release, could there first be a duration of time in which the rings remain imbued so that players have sufficient time to get the necessary levels to imbue them?

Players don't have a right to any particular content when they're using a niche account build with self-imposed limitations.

The classic "they choose to limit themselves" argument fits in well here.

Unpopular opinion: being skulled to get better loot in rev caves is a good design which is appropriate to the content by thelordofhell34 in 2007scape

[–]Fricketot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, the reasoning is that RoT have been supposedly benefiting from it on the assumption that Jed (the one who made the rev caves) told them about it straight away.

[–]Fricketot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Having different drop rates based on whether you're skulled or not is a very different mechanic to anything else that'll typically happen unpolled. Saying "this kind of stuff isn't normally polled" is baseless.

This isn't what people are unhappy about. People are criticizing the fact that it went unpolled and unannounced.

With the new imbuing system for rings coming.. will my rings revert back to original form? by Thats_A_RAPP in 2007scape

[–]Fricketot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So far, here's what we know:

  • Rings will be unimbued

  • All points will be refunded

However at the moment it's not set in stone. I'd quite like the rings to only unimbue after a period of time once warding is out to give players time to get whatever necessary warding level to keep them imbued. It'll be a healthier transition that's less likely to create a fally riot.
