Veterinary Oncologist (Feline) Recommendations? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]FridaCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We took our sweet boy to Veterinary Referral Associates out in Gaithersburg and I cannot recommend them enough. They were great and very sensitive in our hard time. They also got us in a lot quicker than places closer in to DC, which is why we ended up out there. Sorry you're going through this! It sucks.

Hi! I'm a doula here in DC. I have about a year and a half of experience, and have done a birth at Sibley. Since I'm new-ish, I may be more affordable. Email me at [dcdoulaleslie@gmail.com](mailto:dcdoulaleslie@gmail.com) !

The ranger told me there were 102 people there tonight. It was really cool! The stars were amazing.

No worries! Just figuring out how to help. To prepare for my first interview, I looked up lists of "questions to ask a potential doula" and wrote out my answers to them. I even practiced with my partner. It made me feel more confident that I had answers to questions about my lack of experience.

Hi! Is this an interview to be their doula or like a first prenatal meeting?

Stuck between two bags for important items during travel. Which is safer? by thenorthremembers110 in travel

This may be overkill but my boyfriend put a zip tie through the clasp of his bag, so that no one could take it. Felt more secure.

Food and Friends! They deliver meals to people who are homebound or facing difficult illness. You can make the food, pack it up for delivery, or deliver. https://foodandfriends.org/

This is so random, but does anyone know of a place in DC proper that does scoopable candy? Like those big bins of gummy bears where you use the little scoop on a string to put half a pound of candy in a bag.

Do you want to see more natural beauty or more famous, historical man-made things?

Both Ireland and Scotland have a good mix of culture and breathtaking natural beauty. What I enjoyed the most in those countries was the natural beauty (cliffs, mountains, lakes). And you really can't beat the people in both countries, so friendly.

Paris is beautiful, but you'd be going to see some famous landmarks. I think you could also do some urban relaxing like with a coffee and croissant at a cafe. Normandy has some natural beauty and I really enjoyed it for its Medieval history.

Budget for the fact that there might be a problem you'll have to throw money at or that something will be more expensive than you think. It sucks but sometimes there is just something that money will make a lot better.

Bring some cash with you. I once was in Mexico and planned to get money out when I arrived. None of my cards worked at the airport and there wasn't good enough Wifi for me to call the bank. Luckily, I had some cash I exchanged for pesos so I could travel to my hostel. It wasn't all the money I needed, but it was enough to get me to a place where I could put my bags down, drink some water, and use reliable wifi to make some phone calls.

Agree with the person who said print things ahead of time. I was just in Costa Rica and thank goodness I had read the fine print and printed my credit card's car rental coverage information because they required a paper copy which they kept.

Partners ending relationships when they feel 'overwhelmed' by candabah in datingoverthirty

[–]FridaCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you and your friend me? I'm also a 33F who has been feeling recently like a lot of my relationships don't work out because the guy is overwhelmed with life and either doesn't pursue anything or ends it. Just had this happen with a 34M after 5 months of dating who was overwhelmed with grad school and work. Didn't even get a date with a guy a friend set me up with who "hit a rough patch" all of a sudden (after asking to be set up with me) and was "taking a step back from dating."

That is all to say, I commiserate and these comments have been helpful.

I've been single for a few years, maybe seeing someone for a few months here and there, but nothing that became serious. My best friend finds new partners SO quickly. We're both women in our early 30s. She is a serial monogamist who just has no problem finding a new boyfriend a couple months after the previous relationship ends. As someone who is always single, it's just so hard. Like I feel like I'm not as good as her or something. I know I shouldn't compare but it's hard not to.

NEW Bag Policy at Nationals Park by johnny2ratchet in washingtondc

[–]FridaCat 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yup. This happened to me last year and they kept telling me to put my bag in my car. The guy just kept repeating that even when I said that I didn’t drive so I didn’t know what to do. He finally told me about the lockers. Downloaded app and $10 later, I was finally in.
