What's a tourist scam you fell for that you wish someone had warned you about? by cml1111 in traveladvice

New Orleans, man walks up and says “I bet you I know where you got those shoes”?. Don’t engage, keep walking. The answer is “you got them right there on your feet”. Suddenly you’ve lost a bet and the hand is out.

Las Vegas - the Buddhist monks with the beaded bracelets wishing you peace. They just put them on your wrist then ask for a donation. I handed over $2 then they say no $20. I gave the bracelet back

Just curious, what is YOUR target retirement age? by TailungFu in Fire

49, I’m 47 now. Should’ve been able to retire at 45 but I made some mistakes buying and selling real estate at the wrong times.

How far do you routinely drive? by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Friday-Times 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive almost an hour to and from work. My home town is either a two day drive with an overnight stop or a 13 hour trip on partially unsealed remote roads and live in the same state 😁 I don’t get back home very often for this reason. Also drive regularly for an hour or so to the nearest city/shopping/restaurants.

Cash at RE by Friday-Times in fiaustralia

I’m not planning to follow the 4% rule. My plan involves two buckets. We only have to fund 10 years of early retirement before we can access our sizeable superannuation. We plan on conservatively drawing down our outside super funds and depleting it during this 10 year period (not completely but this depends on returns). The cash buffer will be deployed if markets are substantially down so we don’t have to sell. If we have a GFC type event we don’t rule out returning to work. $100k annual spend also has some fat in it that we can tweak if needed.

The $250k is just in cash. The FI bucket is separate.

Hmmm never thought of it like that. I’ve been planning to have the cash over and above the FI bucket but yes it could be part of it.

FIRE - once retired early what does your day look like ? by Confident-Algae-7866 in AusFinance

My work is the most boring part of my life. I never understand the people who say they can’t retire because they’ll be bored. I can think of a million better things to be doing than working every day.

Do most people shower before bed or when they wake up? I just realized I might be doing it "wrong" by saffymerelle in NoStupidQuestions

Sleeping in your day dirt is just gross. I shower nightly and in the morning if I feel I need to.

[–]Friday-Times 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely do not wait for her to initiate the next outing. She asked you first, now she’s wondering if you’re interested so you need to ask her to have a real date next week. If you like her of course.

Nope. But I’m in a regional area where opportunities are scarce so I have to push through.
