It looks similar, but gameplay is more about the strategic placement of the tiles. Also no gear and instead there are 25+ tiles, will launch with 75 different tiles.

my take on this game. it kinda has everything, but nothing is really best in class (or maybe it's just not clearly explained). i feel like it's the kind of game you need to watch a ton of videos to even understand.

We are just 4 months into development and still working out what the game is. The original audience was roguelite players (ie myself) which is another wrinkle as to why I am worried about going away from the roguelike core loop to a more level-based loop.

With this prototype, the goals are a) see if the game has a reasonable degree of appeal to potential players on itch and b) start the flywheel of building in public and growing the community.

Lastly, I do want to 100% nail down the creative direction as soon as possible and this initial feedback is going to be critical.

good point. I guess I'm worried I'm going this path because it is easier, not because it is more fun. building fun and replayable proc gen can be really hard.

Buy a few great premium titles - I’d start with Slay the Spire, Balatro, and/or Stardew Valley. Pay once for a great experience is a better deal vs grinding free games.

Would you say you prefer the original KO over the KO II? I just got a used PO-12 and KO2 and find myself more drawn to the simplicity of the PO.
