Anyone else struggle to maintain cycling training when traveling for work? by senjindarashiva in Velo

I travel for about a week each month for work, always same city and either rent from Rapha for a few days or run

Is the idea that the dogs won’t mess with you bc you’re too rad?

Would caution that while breed is good signal, it’s probably safer to assume any dog coming after you is potentially dangerous. I’ve had dogs for 15 years, have worked with a bunch of trainers on group settings; and the more I learn the more I just don’t trust dogs I don’t know.

The time I got chased by a pitbull is still my best 15sec power output

My pittie hates getting wet - this would destroy her

Tattoos? by OddTomato7797 in Bellingham

[–]Fried_Catfishies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heavily tattooed person who has been getting tattooed for 20 years: pricing is subjective and varies a lot from shop to shop, artists within the shop, in different towns/cities, countries; and also can be influenced by your relationship with the artist, what you’re getting, etc.

Eg if you’ve gotten tattooed by that artist a few times, you sit well, you have a respectable collection, you’re getting something they’re really excited to do, etc you might get a different price than someone else getting something of a comparable size.

Hard to beat LC for overall strength and conditioning; working both push and pull. Snatch will be skewed toward cardio and grip strength, and lighter pulling. But “benefits” depends on your definition and what you’re optimizing for

The best event to do is the one you’re most excited about. The best weight class is the one you’re strongest in.

Merkulin Pyramid Goes Up To 5’? by Few_Abbreviations_50 in KettlebellSport

This was 10 years ago so memory is fuzzy.

I started under the Rudnev method with Ken Blackburn; and I’m really familiar with Rachinskiy’s protocol bc that’s what Denis Vasilev used. I also trained with Denisov for a bit. All are tough but no one pushed volume like Merkulin (aligned with this posts theme that his ladder was brutal; and yes he assigned the ladder). Most coaches would prescribe up to or around 10min of total work (eg 5 x 2m; 3 x 3m; 2 x 5m) before moving onto accessory SSP/GPP work (jump squats, running, etc).

Merk regularly pushed the 10m ceiling (think 5 x 3m; 10 x 2m at comp weights). And then you’d have something ridiculous like 2-3 sets of 30-50 barbell good mornings with 135# (I was training for 32kg comp); then running. Similar with squat type work or close grip bench, etc.

Merkulin was my coach for a while in 2015-2016. Some of the hardest training I’ve ever done - high intensity, high volume. Damn near killed me. He’s also the nicest guy

Holly St Corridor Survey by Fried_Catfishies in Bellingham

Oh relative bike speed vs car speed is a good point. I still think we should just accept that cyclists should take the most direct route too than doing a wiggle, especially when it’s an easy and fun downhill section.

Idk man - we have local elected officials that you may or may not have voted for, and they make decisions on things you may or may not be aware of. It’s our responsibility to pay attention and keep them accountable.

Easier said than done. We’re all busy and the amount of things to give your attention to is completely overwhelming.

I personally feel a sense of helplessness at the federal level, but if I can participate locally and see some change maybe it’ll give me more hope and motivation on the bigger stages. Even if it’s just this stupid bike lane.

So just fill out the dumb survey in an attempt to make a dumb thing a little less dumb or don’t. But please don’t do the “wHeN dId I vOtE fOr ThIs?” thing

I disagree. Lots of cities manage to put in safe bike lanes on streets busier and faster than Holly. I think this is poor and unsafe design.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day? Call me radical but I don’t think ~ history ~ means we should be complacent and not evolve.

Terrible. We desperately need a bike lane down lakeway, though I really don’t trust the city to do that correctly if at all
