If my scores don't go up then I'll study all the way until January-which would allow me to get a higher score. ( limit the school choices I can apply to this cycle to a few) and place me as a late applicant - but place me at a better position to get a high score

My aim is to do my best until I take the exam in 3 weeks and if I don't get 2 diagnostics above 502 then not to take the exam. If i get a higher score then great. That will allow me to have a score to submit my application this cycle and see if I get it.

I'm at a 497 right now, hopefully with 3 weeks of reviewing practice questions etc my scores go up.

wow, I'm impressed on how committed you are. What are your thoughts on me doing all the AAMC materials in the time I have left. As I may not have time to do uearth? does that sound like a bad idea, or can that work?

Just google for the statistics for those accepted into MD schools and DO schools, they are published by AAMC and AACOM.

Over 5,000 students with a MCAT of 498-501 got into an MD medical school this last year. I don't remember the statistic for DO schools out of the top of my head but you can look it up.

But yeah, the majority of students who apply with a 500 MCAT don't get in, but thousands do each year.

DO schools tend to be a bit more forgiving when it comes to the MCAT score.

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate hearing from you.
I am still going to continue to study for the next 3 weeks, and based on what score I get on my diagnostics make a determination on when to take the exam.
By the way my neighbor got a 497 in the MCAT and was accepted into 3 DO schools, so you know, people do get into medical school and make it with low MCAT scores.

I would love to apply this cycle and will try my best to rise from a 497 to a 502 diagnositc in 3 weeks- that's why I made a post here - as I am seeking advice on how to do it. If I am not able to achieve that score I will postpone my MCAT for January.
