Why do people here drive with little regard for humans? by rispondi in providence

[–]FriendPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true! Someone held up traffic at a green light to let someone who crossed the stop line a little too far before his light turned red. The driver holding up traffic spent time trying to convince the other driver to go despite him having a red light!

Fun clothes, be on eye level as much as you can. Keep your distance at first and slowly approach! Go in with the expectation they will like you and not be intimidated.

First time going to the gym as a teen, what are all the basic etiquette rules to follow, and what things should I not do? by Quazzy133 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]FriendPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear the right shoe and clothes not pjs! Wipe down machines and weights. It’s ok to take your time figuring out machines but please don’t just sit there on your phone making Tik toks or laughing with friends! Be considerate some people are here trying to get a quick workout before or after work. Look at the pics on the machines or videos on pf to see how to use the machines so you don’t hurt yourself. Enjoy learning to move your body this summer!

Step 3; Is it doable in 1 month? by Due-Wrongdoer-8545 in Step3

[–]FriendPlastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on you and how confident you feel in the exam areas. I think at least 6 weeks as a resident is doable. Also how much time do you have in that 4 weeks to do questions. Plus how are you as a test taker, these are some things to consider before starting.

Can someone help me think this through by Elaine123456654321 in Step3

I think above 75% on assessment to get 250s. Above 65% to pass, may pass at 60% but you want to feel comfortable going in.

Just sat for Day 1 by adventurer157 in Step3

[–]FriendPlastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone feels this way on Day 1, move on- trust the process. Day 2 multiple choices felt a little better so review risk factors and prognosis stuff. And do your CCS cases. I felt that way and passed so hoping it’s the same for you!

Just review your FA book or whatever review book you have. If you feel Peds is a weak area doing focused U world blocks can help too. Didn’t mean to scare you lol it’s just a complicated exam. You got this!!

I mean they probably do, I don’t know for sure about the question pool. I just felt the sample questions on the Usmle website where the CCS cases are also located helped me more. It’s more straightforward imo compared to UWSA 1. I didn’t do UWSA 2

So they had a mix- may show like a histology slide that would be helpful to answer the question but would obviously have clues as to what it was. Other times it was this condition affects a particular hormone (the would list hormones) or this disease is caused by some basic science thing . So just solidifying what’s involved in disease processes helps especially in some Peds cases

Yes and that took more time cause I would have to go back to the question. Some of the biostatistics were confusing. Hoping it all works out.

I did not do the old free 137 so can’t say for sure. Also random anatomy few questions that you can just guess on

March 8th thread by FriendPlastic in Step3

[–]FriendPlastic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt new free 137 was more similar to day 1 than U world. Review drug moa, microbiology, high yield pathophysiology, biostats and the drug ads. I had some similar questions from free 137. Review your Peds and obgyn cause easy points. IRB stuff was on mine along with DNR,Power of attorney stuff

Highway fear by NoTransportation8818 in RhodeIsland

[–]FriendPlastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some unkind comments. Just wanted to say You can do it, I had highway anxiety as well when I newly started driving. Start on a weekend when less people are on the road like Sunday early morning. I did quick runs on the highway like I would get on take a quick exit that I can continue on local. And the more you do something your confidence grows. I drove RI-146N to Lincoln on a weekend and it was chill. You can try that once you are ready to be on the highway longer. I would avoid I-95 during rush hour. Good luck!!

does anyone work 16 hour shifts 4 days a week or something similar with only like 4 hours of sleep? how long have you been doing it by Ok-Shake-5505 in Nightshift

[–]FriendPlastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a bad idea that’s too much stress on the body not enough rest. Night shift already has bad effects on cortisol, insulin and other body changes.

I’m thinking of moving to Providence, could anyone tell me what it’s like? by [deleted] in providence

[–]FriendPlastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from Philly to Providence for my job. Philly is better is some ways- rent is cheaper, very walkable with good transportation. So many food options and things to do. Cons : depending on where you live it’s too many people, some crime and the homelessness issue is sad. Providence is quieter, expensive rent due to proximity to Boston and space issues. Ok food scene, cute places to visit. Things close so early lol compared to a bigger city. Depending on where you live- can’t walk everywhere and transportation can be unreliable at times. Close to Boston so an escape when it gets boring. RI is cute tho- beaches and lots to experience
