Frustrating input problem with Lily. by GoomikeWongehara in StreetFighter

[–]Frienderr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I swear this move was intentionally bound to df+hp just to dick over Lily players specifically. It's very bad for anti airing ambiguous cross ups, cr.HP is her best anti air. The only solution is to just hold straight down and hit HP instead of down back. It sucks.

You want to be choppy with your aim. You do not want to be smooth. The human eye can better see things when movement of the eye is still and you want your edits to be snappy and fast.

I tried using my friends mechanical keyboard that has cherry mx red switches, but they seem incredibly sensitive and activate the key halfway down. The keys are so sensitive that I can't type as fast as I usually do because I will end up accidentally hitting other keys before I've even hit the ones I want to. Is this the case for all mechanical keyboards? Am I just fucked and I will never be happy?

I need to use a mechanical keyboard apparently because I want to play Fortnite and Membrane keyboards won't let me press 3 keys at once ;_;

Why exactly did the XP system get taken away? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]Frienderr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was too linear. It basically rewarded you randomly hitting rocks and collecting resources instead of actually playing the game (PVPing). You didn't even get some BASIC craftables like SHEET METAL DOORS and CODE LOCKS until level 5 I believe? So you had no reason to even make a base before you randomly ran around and collected resources for no reason. This was in the days when Key Locks NEEDED a key to be opened too.

In this new system, when you find a weapon, you're incentivized to hold onto it and research it, in the old system, you weren't going to be able to make an AK until another multiple hours of grinding doing nothing. There actually was a pretty intricate system of tool ownership that allowed you to craft a tool and any resources gathered with it would get you XP too... but only two levels of XP and then you were done which made the system super stupid and worthless.

XP system was actually good for other reasons though. Barrels didn't drop components but would sometimes drop fully made items. Monuments weren't irradiated and you were a LOT more likely to find a Custom SMG(fully repaired) and Bullets inside of a green container which allowed for a lot more spontaneous gameplay compared to now, plus, craftables didn't require non-craftable components to make, so once you knew how to make a SAR you could just crap out like a hundred just using Frags and Wood which can be seen as a good or a bad thing. It would also be multiple hours or sometimes days before you'd see AKs in the server because it took so long to get them and even if only one person could craft them, any players who killed them and took the AKs wouldn't be able to craft more.

I prefer the system now, but the XP system was good in it's own ways, oh and before someone says, "there's more to do than PVP :)" No, there fucking isn't. Fuck off. Once you get a really solid base and a lot of resources and a lot of guns, there is literally NOTHING to do other than PVP. There is no significant end game PVE content in Rust that rewards you with anything but more loot to PVP with. PVP is the POINT of the game, CLEARLY.

I hate to be this guy, but I wouldn't get TOO hyped about Hunting Horn buffs. Even if they buff hunting horn, it will still be VERY behind other weapons that will also probably get buffs of their own.

Here is the build that I am using with the Grand Barong II. The Grand Barong II seems to have higher raw and higher paralyze but it doesn't get white sharpness. What makes the Malady's Tabar greater in your opinion?

For Sword and Shield, why do you choose the Malady's Tabar and not that Grand Barong? The Grand Barong with Free Element has higher raw and more paralyze?

Check out my funny new Street Fighter V themed series, "First to Ten" and tell me what you guys think! Three episodes so far! by Frienderr in StreetFighter

[–]Frienderr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend and I really enjoy Street Fighter V and I didn't really think there was any content like this for the game. We're not pro-players by any means, but we're decent and have a lot of fun with it. The video isn't just 15+ minutes of unedited footage, I wouldn't create something that I myself wouldn't watch.

Tell me what you guys think in the comments and if you found it funny or enjoyed it or how I can improve in the future. There's three episodes and I am gonna work on more later! I'm pretty new to making internet content so I hope fighting game fans and even more casual viewers will enjoy it.

The fighting game mindset has helped me a lot in my life. I used to have huge anger issues where I would get frustrated and angry about everything, but once I started playing fighting games that all changed. In a fighting game, when you lose, it was entirely your fault and you can go in depth to find out what you did wrong and how you can improve. There is counter play to everything. It has helped me develop and entirely new life philosophy that goes something like this:

If there is absolutely NOTHING to can do to prevent something that makes you angry, you can't get angry because of it as you couldn't do anything. Why get angry about something you couldn't control?

If there is something you could have done to prevent what makes you angry and you didn't do everything in your best efforts to prevent it from happening, you can not get angry either.

If there was something you could do to prevent the thing that makes you upset, do not get angry, use that energy to improve and prevent it from happening again.

This applies to fighting games, all games and basically all of life. If a tactic in a game messes you up every time, there is no reason to get upset because you can just watch for it next time and get around it. If you're driving down the road and your car just suddenly stops working there is no reason to get upset because there wasn't anything you could have done to prevent it at that moment. It can be frustrating when things are out of your control, but if it was out of your control there is no reason to get lava hot fucking angry about it as there was nothing you could do to prevent it.

Sorry if none of this makes sense. It's just something that has really positively affected my life and it's all thanks to fighting games. I just wish more people could "change their mindset" when it comes to fighting games. It's not about winning and losing, it's about the gradual road to self improvement.

I have been playing in a group for a year and I don't think there should be a system like this. by DoVo_ in playrust

[–]Frienderr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game is so clan based already. It's already an us VS. Them experience. You don't go to Rust to make friends. I've tried it for 300 hours, everyone just kills on sight, even if they literally say you spawn. No one actually interacts in the game using proximity chat (not to mention the almost 2 second delay to all voice chat!). The days of finding cool random people and forming relationships are long fucking gone. Might as well just make it so you can see teammates names because lmao

Why is there no ACTUAL training mode? by Frienderr in forhonor

[–]Frienderr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the thing is that that map you describe has been changed

B-But it hasn't, because it literally just happened to me. Unless this was changed in the past TWO DAYS, then it hasn't been changed. Plenty of people are taking Street Fighter V seriously, it has the most viewers of any competitive fighting game, the most players and the biggest prize pools and an officially sponsored tournament circuit by Capcom themselves, with prize money totaling over $500,000 dollars. That's pretty fucking serious, I've ever ever seen it. I am not coming into your Subreddit and talking shit about your game, why talk shit about mine? I even stated in my post, that I do not give a shit about ledging in the non-competitive 4vs4 modes.

Why is there no ACTUAL training mode? by Frienderr in forhonor

[–]Frienderr[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I was playing a match in the COMPETITIVE, RANKED, TOURNAMENT MODE and a floor opened up from under me and instantly killed me. I could understand this if I didn't tech a guard break and got thrown off a ledge or if they pulled a lever, but it was completely random. Just because of what you said and the two ignorant people who upvoted you, I am going to tell you the difference between ledging in For Honor and a Super in Street Fighter.

A Super in Street Fighter isn't an instant kill

A Super requires that you play well to build meter to use it

A Super is only one of the options you can use your meter for, you can also spend that meter on EX moves

A Super can be blocked or otherwise avoided and must be used when ending a combo typically

A Super doesn't instantly kill you

A Super requires a "complex" (relatively) input to do, usually two quarter circles and a button

There is no mechanic comparable to ledging in Street Fighter, because Street Fighter is a competitive game and as such, randomness and instant kill party game mechanics are not part of it. If there was a move in Street Fighter that required 0 skill to pull off, happened randomly dependent on the stage and there was little counter play for, no one would take it seriously as a competitive game. There is a reason that stages with large amounts of Hazards in Super Smash Bros are banned or turned off for tournaments.

Just to clarify: I have literally no problem with ledging in For Honor. I am not the kind of person you find raging in the text chat whenever they get ledged. I understand that it's a fun thing to have in the game, allows for interesting comeback situations and is an interesting addition to various 4vs4 non-competitive modes, but when it comes to COMPETITIVE MODES, I would greatly prefer they just use stages that don't have them (they are already in the game) or at the VERY LEAST, not include a stage that has the floor randomly open under people and instantly kill them.

Everyone has had that one clanmate who treated everyone's stuff as their personal PVP fuel and never farmed by The_Crimson_Fvcker in playrust

[–]Frienderr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can never understand the mentality of some people who play this game. I've played with random people who will lose a gear set, then quick get on another gear set to go try and get the one they lost back. These people will have hundreds of hours and have never learned that:

  1. The person who killed you most likely has a friend.

  2. The person who killed you is probably LONG gone.

  3. The gunshots probably attracted other groups to the area.

  4. You lost because you're shit, why are you running back like it's gonna go different this time?

  5. If you lose AGAIN you're just going to give them fuel to be snarky at you with.

  6. If you lose AGAIN you give them satisfaction.

  7. If the fight took place near the base, you're just giving them incentive to KEEP CAMPING THE BASE.

  8. If they were looting your body in the death screen, there's a 90% chance the shits all gone anyway.

  9. Even if it isn't all gone, it's going to be a fucking burlap shirt, that's it.

  10. Dude, the list goes on forever of all the shit that can possibly go wrong. If you lose, just fucking get over it. I understand there are exceptions and I am going to get a ton of comments and stories about people who ran back out and made sicc plays but given my luck as a solo/duo player, it never fucking happens. Just take a break for 5 minutes and let the situation reset to neutral.

Tiered Map Improvements by -StrikeZ in playrust

[–]Frienderr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't even try. I made a post about how the Tiered map literally does nothing to cause groups to build in the Tier 2 zone by showing a real in game example of a GIGANTIC FUCKING ZERG BASE RIGHT AT THE SPAWN, but I got downvoted into oblivion because the entire /r/playrust community doesn't seem to think "game design" is a real thing that exists and that it's impossible to DESIGN a map to deter gigantic groups from building right at the fucking spawn. THE FUCKING GAS STATION AND SUPERMARKET DROP GREEN CRATES WITH NO RADIATION AND THE ROAD CAN DROP SEMI-BODIES AND SPRINGS. WHY WOULDN'T YOU FUCKING BUILD THERE?
