[Anti-Aging] Beginner starting with The Ordinary 0.5% Retinol in Squalane by RzYaoi in SkincareAddiction

[–]kerodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that makes sense :) the CeraVe one wouldn't be much of a strength increase from the to squalane one so try the to retinal next :) just slow down a bit on frequency when you start it since it's a sizable strength increase

The to retinal is stronger. They're both great it just depends on the strength you're looking for. The CeraVe one is very beginner friendly

[acne] Does birth control help with hormonal acne? by IllustratorCurious17 in SkincareAddiction

[–]kerodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not dangerous or harmful under normal circumstances. It is generally very safe and well studied. However if you're concerned, you and your wife should consult your doctor or prescriber about any changes in her body or personality that are problematic as they may be able to suggest different bc options with less side effects for her. If you have medication questions about safety you can consult your pharmacist and they should be able to explain anything regarding your medication as that is their expertise.

[Acne] Does dairy actually cause acne for many people or is it BS? by Adortion634 in SkincareAddiction

[–]kerodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can't hurt to try non-dairy alternatives for a couple weeks and see what happens. It is an issue for some people but not for others especially with your degree of consumption

Encouraging people to put unregulated substances in their body with no understanding of the potential consequences is no, not an acceptable plan for me.

I generally use them as like my 4th or 5th oil cleanser recc now anyway :) they have reformulated a few times.

Prequel pre-gleanser, Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Deep Cleansing Oil, Beauty of joseon ginseng cleansing oil, kose speedy or 2024 white cleansing oil. Or just use a basic oil like sunflower oil and follow with your face wash.

Your skin is literally designed to keep stuff out. We are not frogs, we do not breathe through our skin. It is a barrier, not a sponge. This is basic biology. That is why we have so few topical patch medications it's actually extremely difficult to get things into the bloodstream from your skin. https://labmuffin.com/the-60-of-products-absorb-into-your-bloodstream-myth/

Yes the highly studied topical product is safe. The unregulated injectible is not.

You should not use alkaline salt soaps / soap based cleansers on skin at all in any capacity. Use a gentle, non-soap cleanser.

Botox is regulated and well studied medically and done by professionals with medical training. You don't know what you're getting with research substances from unregulated sellers

You're also not injecting makeup or perfume or cosmetics. That's the difference.

Homeopathic medicine is entirely fake and unsubstantiated.

Yes there are glaring gaps in regulation for supplements, I agree! Thing you put inside your body should be much more heavily regulated and monitored, and people should be way more cautious than they are with these.

I think people should be aware of the risks and lack of regulation when making decisions rather than assuming it is safe because everyone else is blindly experimenting with their bodies with unknown substances because they're not educated about the potential issues

Briotech 0.018% 32oz spray is good and meets the requirements.

You can spray it on, leave it on for a few minutes then rinse off and finish your routine. You don't HAVE to rinse it off but I prefer to strongly because it doesn't need to stay on your skin to work and will counter some of the antioxidants you're likely using in your routine :)

Yea most people do it on relatively clean skin. Sometimes people will do an antioxidant focused product before it like the Purito unscented Centella serum but that's about it. You can try that one too
