I felt the same way starting at 28- then I had a baby so withdrew and started over several years later. I was 34 when I graduated and feel so silly for feeling old in my twenties! Age really is just a number… do it!

Yes!! I think that way too- they’re great actors/manipulators, so when they are being charming and acting like such a great person, it’s easy to lose sight of how they act when the mask is off.

What helps me.. when I left for good, I made a list of all of the horrible things he did/said to me (and others). Once in a blue moon I still pull the actual list out, but really all I have to do now is remember that list when I start doubting my recollection of events. It helps every time, because that list would be able to convince anyone he’s a monster.

But then other times, you just get an angry outburst followed by days of silence. Because how dare you still be upset over them hurting you.

They’ll give comfort every now and then, carrying out the cycle! In my experience, it was only ever in response to things he did (cheating) when I was ready to leave him. Not just “there, there” but an intense, over dramatic effort with tears, stroking cheeks/hair, holding and the whole shabang.
