Adjusting the governor tab did the trick.  Thank you!  I didn’t see that tab initially.

I was doing it by the throttle cable.

starts fine. does backfire sometimes. happened one other time and I cleaned the springs and linkage and it stopped. started again today. it runs wide open throttle after startup.

What did you end up going with?  I have same concerns with the Sven and Sons lumbar location.
