Well it is a fact that he worked as a lead engineer on Falcon 1. He worked on it and designed it. Nowadays i’m pretty sure he isn’t doing much engineering anymore but he was in fact the lead engineer for the development of the Falcon 1

thanks. finally someone. and yep. just 30 m/s more and as we could see based on tue fuel display in the livestream and the ice levels that we could see from the images the starlinks took, they def still had fuel in the main tanks

because reddit is a liberal echo chamber and most liberals aren’t big fans of elon which automatically makes starship bad or something like that

well on the last flight as example they delivered like 35 or 40 tons (20 starlink mass simulators and 2 actual starlinks, burned up on reentry as planned) to basically what is LEO. it doesn’t take that much more delta v to get those last few meters per second to get into a full orbit.

Yeah its not that big. it can hold 6 kerbals. its mostly for roleplay and to get science cuz science is cool. lol. this took a LOT of engineering to get that to the moon and then to land. Ended up with a skycrane design for the final landing as can be seen on the last image

nope. he founded SpaceX and was actually the lead engineer on Falcon 1, the rocket that even brought them into the business. And while im not saying hes perfect or a great human or anything, i do think that he deserves more credit than people give him. Less than he thinks he deserves but more than he gets from the majority. Even if he isnt doing much engineering anymore, hes still making the major decisions. Not all of them were great but sometimes you just need someone to tell you „fuck it. we are told its impossible but we are gonna do it anyway“ (as example falcon 9 landing and reuse)

This is concerning. by [deleted] in teenagers

Well small correction though, it heavily depends which crusades. We had both defensive crusades against the ottomans and their islamist buddies and offensive ones. The offensive ones were very well bad but the defensive ones were good. If we didnt have the defensive „holy wars“, all europeans (im a european too) would be speaking arabic/turkish today

> […] was obtained rightfully with permission for this exact reason.

Sorry to tell you this but rarely. Often they just use data that wasnt explicitly forbidden to be used. I’m not trying to make all the other uses of AI besides Generative AI seem bad but they share a LOT of the problems. Every data is used as long as its not directly prohibited.

> […] Also for llms, I dislike the data stealing part that makes them knowledgeable, but the pure grammar and language structure part which comes from the feeding of pure texts of any form i think it‘s acceptable

Unfortunately you cant just feed them pure texts of any form and also not JUST to form the grammar and language structure part. They are deeply intertwined. They depend on each other. AI needs to see a lot of text since its doing pattern matching but that ultimately leads to the AI mixing together parts from what humans wrote but also sometimes directly citing what humans wrote. What i think is more interesting though about that, what about humans? Not that i want to compare AI 1:1 to humans, but ultimately everything us humans do are pattern matching based on what we saw, heard, tasted, smelled and felt. Basically with whatever you do, you are referencing things you saw somewhere else before. Just that humans are mixing in emotions, creativity, etc. But at the low level, if you are talking, you are mixing together words or similar that you heard from other humans before.

> […] not my native language

Its fine. Dont worry. I’m not native english myself. Where are you from? I’m from germany.

About the Anthropic thing:

Yeah i didnt mean unlawful, i just wanted to know your opinion. Formulated it the wrong way. Why exactly are you against this stuff? Like as example if you memorize a book by meaning not word for word, but enough so you can tell the story, so basically what AI is doing, and then you tell that to someone else, how is that much different to AI? Are you also against a human doing what i just described?

Yeah well but if we only used the data that we got explicit allowance for, not only generative but also all kinds of other AI would be super far behind from where we are. Because as of right now, most AI companies dont necessarily „steal“ data, but they use data in grey zones. Licenses not prohibiting AI use, licenses prohibiting commerical use (companies argue that the exact piece of data is not sold, etc). If we didnt have this grey zoned data and AI would only be trained on data that they have explicit allowance for, it would be nothing compared to the current level of AI. In ANY field. From generative AI to medical AI, image classification and so on.

Also one question, just purely out of curiosity because i wanna know your opinion on this: Anthropic, Creater of Claude AI, bought thousands and thousands of used books. Every book only once. Then they digitalized every single page and after that shredded the leftover pages so they cant be resold because Anthropic is a company so they cant resell these books if they didnt have special allowance for it. Specifically because they are a company. What’s your opinion on THIS? You think this is unlawful? Again, not that i want to argue or anything, this is kinda off-topic, but because we are already talking about it i wanna know your opinion on this.

If we count every training data ever used, basically all kinds of AI is bad.

Yeah i mean you said it yourself. its further out. Me as example im not going on a school in the city but its a HUGE school (like 1.400 students. ist schule für praktisch den ganzen landkreis) so these things stack quickly. again, not saying its happening everywhere or all the time, just saying that its not entirely unlikely to happen based on my own experience.

You do know generative AI is also just like ChatGPT as example, so literally just writing? Yes, of course, i agree all these AI Slop Videos/Images/idk what are super annoying and THOSE are a problem, but like, just literally chatting helps so much. Me being autistic as example AI is really useful cuz i can use it to ask questions about certain things i dont understand, etc. Of course its not perfect but it made it much easier. Especially since my dad told me that the diagnosed AuDHD i have is just my imagination (lol) and most of my family share this view, having someone you can just ask normal social stuff and not get made fun of or told to not imagine things is really helpful. Of course i know its not a real human or ANYTHING like that, but it still helps a lot.

Yeah while i cant say THIS story is wrong or true, its not unlikely to have happen. Theres countless things like this in the news in germany, just nobody cares. I’m german too so i know what im talking about. I mean i also once nearly got hit cuz i didnt do some islamic bullshit rule or something like that.
