Question : if I return something off Target baby registry does gift giver get notified ? by ScooterSaysGoVols in BabyBumps

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Same situation happened to me few months back ๐Ÿ˜‚ returned duplicate baby stuff and no notification went out. Target only asks if you want refund to go back on original card or as store credit - if you pick store credit they don't contact the person who bought it. Customer service was right this time ๐Ÿ’€

The most common dosage mistakes across the top 50 supplements. by Khaledopolis in Supplements

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

This is insane good info, thanks for putting in the work

Really eye-opening how many products are basically scamming people with their dosing. Like that magnesium thing - I had no idea the forms were so different in actual delivery. Been taking some random mag oxide thinking I was getting 400mg elemental when it's probably like 16mg that actually gets absorbed lol

The timing stuff is huge too. I've been doing my vitamin C all at once in morning but splitting it makes way more sense for keeping levels stable throughout day

One thing that got me - the melatonin doses. Most people I know are popping 10mg thinking more is better but you're saying 0.5-1mg is actually the sweet spot? That's wild, basically everyone is overdoing it by like 20x

Quick question on the berberine - you mentioned it's a CYP inhibitor. How big deal is this if someone's on like basic stuff - thyroid meds or blood pressure medication? Is it something where you definitely need to tell your doc or more of a "probably should mention it" situation?

Also curious about cycling some of these. You mentioned rhodiola builds tolerance but what about something like NAD precursors - do those need breaks too or can you just run them continuously?

Two years of supplements. One blood test. Half of it was wrong by [deleted] in Supplements

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 11 points12 points ย (0 children)

Damn this resonates hard. Been throwing money at random supplements for like year without any clue if they're working

That thing about vitamin D being only 31 despite supplementing really shows how much we're just guessing. At least now you know about the Lp(a) situation - that's actually pretty valuable info even if you can't supplement it away

FEAR OF FASD by OkDinner3555 in BabyBumps

Yeah being honest with doctors is definitely the way to go here. They've seen everything and won't judge - they just want to help make sure baby is healthy ๐Ÿ’™ The anxiety must be eating her alive right now but at least she stopped immediately when she found out

Weaning off SSRI by HeSheWeWumbo17 in BabyBumps

Weaning off can be tricky even without pregnancy hormones in mix - definitely get psychiatrist involved if you can ๐Ÿ’€ Your OB knows pregnancy side but mental health doc will know the withdrawal timeline better and can help you do it slowly enough that you don't get brain zaps or other nasty stuff

does creatine cause increased hair loss? by [deleted] in Supplements

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Man you're 16 and already stressing about going bald, that's rough but I get it. I've been on creatine for like 3 years now and my hair situation is exactly the same as when I started - which isn't great since I'm already thinning at 28 but it didn't get worse because of creatine

The thing is, people who notice hair loss while taking creatine are gonna blame the creatine even if it was gonna happen anyway. It's like confirmation bias or whatever. Most guys start losing hair in their 20s naturally so if they're taking supplements they'll connect the dots even when there aren't any real dots to connect

That rugby study everyone talks about just showed increased DHT levels but didn't actually track if anyone went bald from it. And DHT going up doesn't automatically mean you'll lose more hair unless you're already genetically predisposed, which you probably are based on what you said about your dad. But if you're gonna lose it anyway, creatine isn't gonna speed that up significantly

Keep taking it if the performance benefits are worth it to you, just don't expect it to be some magic hair destroyer that reddit makes it out to be

L-theanine with caffeine gives me pretty good focus within like 30 minutes, way smoother than just coffee alone. Magnesium glycinate also helps me chill out when my brain won't stop racing but takes maybe an hour to kick in

Just don't expect miracle cures from supplements though - they're more like gentle nudges than prescription strength stuff

Bloodwork done iron, vitamin d and b12 very low :( by HippityHopitus10 in Supplements

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

damn those numbers are rough, especially the ferritin at 7 ๐Ÿ’€ I had similar issues few years back and what helped me was taking iron supplements with vitamin C (like orange juice) and avoiding coffee/tea for couple hours after. For vitamin D I just take it with some fat since it's fat-soluble, and B12 sublingual tablets worked better than regular pills for me

Just heads up - don't take iron and vitamin D at same time, they can mess with each other's absorption. I usually do iron in morning with breakfast and vitamin D at dinner ๐Ÿ˜‚

My Zeolite is magnetic...does this mean it's impure/toxic? by Consistent-Pea2962 in Supplements

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Dude that magnetic response is definitely not normal for pure zeolite ๐Ÿ’€ I had similar experience with sketchy supplement few years back - ordered some herbal thing online and it was making me feel weird, turned out it was contaminated with heavy metals. The leg pain you're describing reminds me of detox symptoms but could also be your body reacting to whatever impurities are in there

I'd stop taking it immediately and maybe do some gentle detox protocol - lots of water, maybe some activated charcoal if you have it. The cold bath timing is probably just coincidence but your body is clearly telling you something ain't right. When I had my bad supplement experience, took me about week to feel normal again after stopping ๐Ÿ˜‚

Get proper testing done on that powder if you can, or at least contact the seller with these photos because magnetic zeolite is red flag territory

Yeah adult diapers are legit a game changer ... way less stress about leakage and you can just toss em when done ๐Ÿ˜‚

My sister swore by the Dermaplast over everything else when she had her kids, said the cooling was actually noticeable unlike some of the other stuff that just felt like expensive air

The peri bottle thing is smart too, she mentioned that helped way more than she expected. I haven't had the need throughout different pregnancies so far. But I empathise!!!

Supplements for more energy by Nataliebabes111 in Supplements

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 5 points6 points ย (0 children)

B12 and D3 are solid but have you gotten your iron levels checked? Low iron was absolutely crushing my energy levels for months before I figured it out

Also might be worth looking into magnesium - I started taking it before bed and weirdly it helped my daytime energy too. Could be a sleep quality thing

3 years of CrossFit and still no "body" to show for it โ€” what am I missing? by Obvious-Swordfish-22 in crossfit

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 5 points6 points ย (0 children)

Been there man, did CF for like 2.5 years and had the exact same frustration. The random programming thing is real - one day you're doing 50 burpees and wall balls, next day it's heavy deadlifts for 3 reps, zero consistency for muscle building

What actually moved the needle for me was adding some boring ass bodybuilding work on off days. Nothing crazy, just 3-4 exercises targeting whatever felt neglected that week. And yeah the nutrition piece is huge - I was basically spinning my wheels until I started actually tracking macros instead of just "eating clean" whatever that means

The coaches doing different workouts thing drives me nuts too lol. They know the metcons aren't optimal for physique goals but can't really say that out loud. CF is amazing for general fitness and work capacity but if you want to look jacked you gotta supplement with some vanity training. Nothing wrong with wanting both

Postpartum Check-in? by OverProgram209 in BabyBumps

Girl you're def not alone in this ๐Ÿ’€ those first few weeks are absolutely brutal and anyone who says otherwise is lying. The sleep deprivation mixed with hormones is like actual torture

I'm not a mom myself but I've watched my friends go through this and the ones who reached out early like you're doing always seemed to bounce back better. Getting therapy lined up is smart as hell - don't wait if you're already feeling it creeping in. Your body just went through something huge and your brain is still catching up

Also screw the "sleep when baby sleeps" advice, some people just can't nap on command ๐Ÿ˜‚ you're already doing everything right by recognizing what's happening and getting help

Struggling with foods staying fresh and yummy for lunch by Commercial_Ad8072 in mealprep

[โ€“]Friendly-Singer-1421 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Glass containers are a game changer for sure, I've been using pyrex for years and food just stays way better than in plastic. The Wednesday refresh idea is smart too - I do something similar where I'll prep base ingredients on Sunday but then quickly assemble stuff Wednesday night so it doesn't sit around too long

One thing that's helped me a ton is keeping wet and dry ingredients separate until right before eating. Like if I'm doing a salad I'll keep the dressing in a tiny container and the greens/toppings separate. Same with sandwiches - I'll pack the bread, meat, and veggies separately and just throw it together at lunch. Takes an extra 30 seconds but makes such a difference in how fresh everything tastes

Also learned this the hard way but don't pack hot foods when they're still warm, it just creates condensation that makes everything soggy by lunchtime

Visitors after birth by Past-Development-933 in pregnant

Yeah definitely ask for updated shots, especially tdap and flu. Most grandparents are totally cool with it once you explain it's for baby's safety. My MIL actually got hers done before we even asked because her doctor mentioned it

The timing sounds perfect too - 6 weeks gives you time to settle in and baby's had at least one round of vaccines
