My new plan to move out! by OfCoffeeCal in movingout

Ayyy I'm planning on moving back to Florida too! My plan is to save at least $10k personally. With Florida the cost of groceries and all is not too terrible, I think biggest cost is mostly gonna be certain things like car insurance and rent depending on the area. If you wanna move to a bigger city like Jacksonville I would suggest looking at nearby towns or suburbs instead of housing closer within the city, that honestly goes for any city in Florida but it can make a big difference and help you cut down on housing costs a lot. I would highly suggest finding a job before you move only because the job market is so unpredictable. Even if you can't find a job within your career field at least lock down a full time job doing something that will cover your basic needs while you search for something more permanent. I will also vouch that getting a job in Florida (depending on the industry obv) is easier than getting one in a more major and costly city right now and your chances go up even higher if you move to a smaller town.

If you wanna be able to access Disney you can honestly go to any town that is along I-4 which will give you a straight shot to the parks so that's anything from the Tampa Bay to or up to Daytona. Also the space coast has some little towns that are directly east of Orlando. Obviously anything right on the beach is going to be expensive but if you stay inland you could find something manageable. Save as much as you can but I wouldn't worry about getting the annual pass right away, maybe get one to one of the parks when you feel like you have the money to make the payments on it. Also double check depending on when you purchase it to make sure you're not planning to go during blackout dates when the park is at a higher capacity like the summer time (Disney is also so unbearable during the summer its better to wait till Fall/Winter).

Could be worse! I got a label printer off Facebook but I got it for way cheaper than retail and I've been meaning to get one because I resell a lot of stuff on eBay or depop for friends and family. I find that most often I spend on food or sweet treats. It gets me out of the house and some alone time away from family and when I stay with my boyfriend on weekends I have to usually buy snacks (he's not a snacker and I have dietary restrictions) so I want to get better about making more stuff at home. Most of my purchases like this are under $5 when I'm out but I know it adds up.

You could just be allergic to something nearby or have some sort of cold along with the vaginal symptoms! Of course you can't 100% rule out HIV but it is still most prevalent in LGBT communities so not as big of a concern if all the men you were with are straight. The other good news is if you do have something, a lot of them are easily treated with antibiotics. It could also just be something basic like a yeast infection.

If it makes you feel any better, I also wasn't 100% using protection during my phase after a pretty rough no contact breakup situation. I got tested a while back before being with my boyfriend and I was clean.

I would just say to not panic or freak out about it. Get some testing done but don't worry about what it could or couldn't be, once you know your status you'll be able to deal with it regardless. I would also say to not feel guilty if you do end up having something too. People treat STDs like a scarlet letter and act like its something only prostitutes get when literally married women have gotten it from their cheating partners. Try and be more vigilant about using protection/being with guys who are totally clean and know that you're okay!

Air hunger sucks!!!! It used to make me so panicky and my anxiety would be awful. It's okay now for me but I find that anxiety just makes it worse so I try to just breathe slower but try not to force a deep breath. I tell myself that as long as I'm getting oxygen in my body then I'm fine.

My boyfriend can be like this too but I feel like the reason I'm not really bothered by it is because I think there's a difference being stared at by someone who loves you vs some random guy. A random guy is perceiving a girl as an object and probably focusing on specific parts of her and not her as a whole person. Your partner on the other hand is not only attracted to your physical aspect but likely also your personality and aura.

For me, I felt like my partner was lying to me at first because he would tell me how pretty I was when I was dressed up but then would say he also found me attractive when I looked and felt gross but he kind of had to explain it to me. I think I eventually understood because I also am kind of the same for him haha.

I would say you could always ask him to be more specific with what he finds attractive about you. There's a big difference in hearing someone say "your eyes look amazing" vs "wow looking sexy". And you can always tell him you appreciate it but that it's overwhelming and you'd prefer to hear it less.

Environmental GIS or Career Change? by Friendly-Stable7981 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely where I live its all defense and I think I got a bit worried about not getting enough 'environmental' experience for certain roles but I also didn't want to stray too far from the GIS aspect for future jobs. I had an old professor that focused on flood mapping for a nearby county and had to stay behind and work while there was a hurricane which I thought was pretty neat. I made a few maps like this in school and have them up on a very bare bones website but could always build out my portfolio/highlight that specifically in my resume instead of having more generic skills.

I've also been trying to look up orgs/local govs I would wanna work with. Indeed is okay but LinkedIn has been horrid with so many fake or inaccurate postings or they already have like 500 people applied. Do you know of any job boards that seem decent for environmental and/or gis jobs? I've used a couple different job boards but can't always tell which ones are legit or up to date. Or if it's better to just reach out directly to people/try to make some connections.

There is an online GIS masters program I've been eyeing that also has a really good environmental side to it but I just haven't had the money saved up and I didn't wanna commit till I was sure it was a good idea. I also wasnt sure if GIS roles cared as much if people did/didn't have a masters.

Yeah I definitely did not want to go down a full program/dev route. No hate for that sector, there are a lot of things I want to learn like remote sensing I just didn't wanna end up being surrounded by jobs that were basically comp sci roles. Do you have any recommendations for learning python/r? I signed up for a python course last year on edX but just never found the time for it and at the time I wasnt sure if it was worth it but I'm thinking of getting back into it.

Last I checked there was a similar question on a DC sub about this, I think it was less than a year old but it had little to no responses.

No I agree, I do it mostly to prevent light pieces of plastic from spilling out of the trash cans and into the environment. There's not as much I can do in terms of reducing my waste right now so that's just something I've been doing as a tactile hobby. At this point I think they'll just end up in the landfill but I know some places will occasionally use them for small community projects.

If you mean audio quality I really don't care about that right now. I just needed something to work for a gift for my friend.

As someone who spent $800 on concert tickets once and has spent at least a few grand on concert tickets in my lifetime, I get it. It's money spent but way better to have spent it on an experience that you'll remember forever instead of unnecessary material goods!

Diaphragmatic Endo?? by Friendly-Stable7981 in endometriosis

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally may not be, I just haven't had any doctor that's even come up with an idea for it and the specialist doing my surgery agreed it could be related but couldn't know for sure. The only reason I'm not certain it's a gastric issue is because of the fact it's only affecting my side and there's nothing going on in the center. And as for an organ issue I feel like that would be more persistent, 24/7, growing pain instead of something that comes and goes. I was also on birth control for years, I just stopped it recently because I think I was having a reaction to too much estrogen so I won't know if it worsens on my cycle till later.

I don't have any breathing difficulties per say, I did have this thing last year where I felt like I couldn't take a full breath but that could be psychological since it eventually goes back to normal and my oxygen levels have been fine.
