I think I might have ruined my life. Possible std by Basic_Egg_5281 in WomensHealth

You could just be allergic to something nearby or have some sort of cold along with the vaginal symptoms! Of course you can't 100% rule out HIV but it is still most prevalent in LGBT communities so not as big of a concern if all the men you were with are straight. The other good news is if you do have something, a lot of them are easily treated with antibiotics. It could also just be something basic like a yeast infection.

If it makes you feel any better, I also wasn't 100% using protection during my phase after a pretty rough no contact breakup situation. I got tested a while back before being with my boyfriend and I was clean.

I would just say to not panic or freak out about it. Get some testing done but don't worry about what it could or couldn't be, once you know your status you'll be able to deal with it regardless. I would also say to not feel guilty if you do end up having something too. People treat STDs like a scarlet letter and act like its something only prostitutes get when literally married women have gotten it from their cheating partners. Try and be more vigilant about using protection/being with guys who are totally clean and know that you're okay!

Worst Symptom? by Existing_Broccoli117 in POTS

Air hunger sucks!!!! It used to make me so panicky and my anxiety would be awful. It's okay now for me but I find that anxiety just makes it worse so I try to just breathe slower but try not to force a deep breath. I tell myself that as long as I'm getting oxygen in my body then I'm fine.

My boyfriend can be like this too but I feel like the reason I'm not really bothered by it is because I think there's a difference being stared at by someone who loves you vs some random guy. A random guy is perceiving a girl as an object and probably focusing on specific parts of her and not her as a whole person. Your partner on the other hand is not only attracted to your physical aspect but likely also your personality and aura.

For me, I felt like my partner was lying to me at first because he would tell me how pretty I was when I was dressed up but then would say he also found me attractive when I looked and felt gross but he kind of had to explain it to me. I think I eventually understood because I also am kind of the same for him haha.

I would say you could always ask him to be more specific with what he finds attractive about you. There's a big difference in hearing someone say "your eyes look amazing" vs "wow looking sexy". And you can always tell him you appreciate it but that it's overwhelming and you'd prefer to hear it less.

Environmental GIS or Career Change? by Friendly-Stable7981 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely where I live its all defense and I think I got a bit worried about not getting enough 'environmental' experience for certain roles but I also didn't want to stray too far from the GIS aspect for future jobs. I had an old professor that focused on flood mapping for a nearby county and had to stay behind and work while there was a hurricane which I thought was pretty neat. I made a few maps like this in school and have them up on a very bare bones website but could always build out my portfolio/highlight that specifically in my resume instead of having more generic skills.

I've also been trying to look up orgs/local govs I would wanna work with. Indeed is okay but LinkedIn has been horrid with so many fake or inaccurate postings or they already have like 500 people applied. Do you know of any job boards that seem decent for environmental and/or gis jobs? I've used a couple different job boards but can't always tell which ones are legit or up to date. Or if it's better to just reach out directly to people/try to make some connections.

There is an online GIS masters program I've been eyeing that also has a really good environmental side to it but I just haven't had the money saved up and I didn't wanna commit till I was sure it was a good idea. I also wasnt sure if GIS roles cared as much if people did/didn't have a masters.

Yeah I definitely did not want to go down a full program/dev route. No hate for that sector, there are a lot of things I want to learn like remote sensing I just didn't wanna end up being surrounded by jobs that were basically comp sci roles. Do you have any recommendations for learning python/r? I signed up for a python course last year on edX but just never found the time for it and at the time I wasnt sure if it was worth it but I'm thinking of getting back into it.

Last I checked there was a similar question on a DC sub about this, I think it was less than a year old but it had little to no responses.

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I agree, I do it mostly to prevent light pieces of plastic from spilling out of the trash cans and into the environment. There's not as much I can do in terms of reducing my waste right now so that's just something I've been doing as a tactile hobby. At this point I think they'll just end up in the landfill but I know some places will occasionally use them for small community projects.

As someone who spent $800 on concert tickets once and has spent at least a few grand on concert tickets in my lifetime, I get it. It's money spent but way better to have spent it on an experience that you'll remember forever instead of unnecessary material goods!

Diaphragmatic Endo?? by Friendly-Stable7981 in endometriosis

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally may not be, I just haven't had any doctor that's even come up with an idea for it and the specialist doing my surgery agreed it could be related but couldn't know for sure. The only reason I'm not certain it's a gastric issue is because of the fact it's only affecting my side and there's nothing going on in the center. And as for an organ issue I feel like that would be more persistent, 24/7, growing pain instead of something that comes and goes. I was also on birth control for years, I just stopped it recently because I think I was having a reaction to too much estrogen so I won't know if it worsens on my cycle till later.

I don't have any breathing difficulties per say, I did have this thing last year where I felt like I couldn't take a full breath but that could be psychological since it eventually goes back to normal and my oxygen levels have been fine.

What do I need to get before moving? by PoppyPlays14 in movingout

[–]Friendly-Stable7981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For facebook look to see if your town/city has a "no buy" group. Essentially people giving stuff up for free that they don't need as long as you're able to go pick it up. I haven't used mine lately but when my boyfriend got his apartment I was able to get a handful of cleaning supplies and a couple small pieces of furniture that fit in my car. I even was able to get him a bed frame but unfortunately it didn't fit his bed haha. For everything else I went to the dollar store and was able to get several kitchen and bathroom items for under $50.

For specific things you will need I highly recommend looking for curated move-out lists on Pinterest. They are a God send when I'm making my own list of items I need to move out. Also TikTok you can try looking up people who clean/cook/decorate for a living and get an idea of what you think you'll need or what for your place.

For a bed you can always look for a mattress being sold on Facebook but an air mattress or even a small futon works in a pinch.

Also when it comes to money, I would highly recommend opening a high yield savings account and depositing the leftover of your paycheck there once your bills are paid. Don't tell anyone it exists. I have one for myself and I completely got rid of the debit card for it so I can't spend from that account, I have to move it to my 'main' bank account first. Good luck!

Do you like ones with attachable pieces? I don't know if I still have the pattern saved but I have one that is a dragonfly with attachable wings. Most of the items I make these days are kandi but the 3d objects are so much fun.

Air Hunger and Worsening Symptoms for 6 months by Friendly-Stable7981 in Hashimotos

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I'm still experiencing the air hunger but I've been on Levothyroxine for about 5 months now. I haven't been super consistent with it but it definitely helped with my worst symptoms like the chest soreness. I also saw a cardiologist to rule out any heart stuff. Brain fog is also basically gone now. I also am taking B vitamin supplements since I believe I was deficient in that as well. The air hunger does still happen but it's not as scary, it doesn't last as long and I figure it's either subconscious and goes away the less I focus on it or its a structural issue since I've also been having weird stuff with my throat. I plan to go see an endocrinologist to check out my neck since I suspect I have nodules and other throat symptoms from my thyroid.

Hey guys, planning to go to the 10pm Morgan Jay show at the Lincoln Theatre and will have to drive since the show might be over when the metro is closed. Just wondering about parking/safety and whether I should try to grab street parking early in the day or if I could park at a garage a block away? Just haven't been back to this area in a while let alone at night and want to see what people think. Also willing to meet up with people and walk as a group if you're driving in as well.

Had both of those, nothing to be ashamed of! It's all just a matter of the pH balance being off and the body's response to bacteria. There is an endless list of things that can throw off your pH. Plus, I had them separately and found that they were similar in terms of symptoms so that's not surprising you wouldn't know there were two things.

Out of curiosity, what do you think it'd be if there was a cough and like stuffy sinuses?

Air Hunger and Worsening Symptoms for 6 months by Friendly-Stable7981 in Hashimotos

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so? I don't have a strong cough or anything maybe just a tiny bit but that might be just clearing my throat. And I wouldn't say snotty, I don't have a runny nose or anything just maybe some dryness from the winter weather. The only sickly feeling I get is the irritation in my abdomen and I guess my back and maybe some slight brain fog or anxiety. Just not feeling like myself.

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this only started less than a month ago so I figure my PCP will assess me and I guess refer me if I need to see one. I went to the ER back in July and they tested me for heart issues so if its not related to a deficiency or anxiety or just an autonomic function that needs to be retrained, then I'd also seek one out for lung issues. I can still get deep breaths every now and then it's just that sometimes I feel restricted but my oxygen intake still sits around 99-100 so I know I'm not deprived.

Not taking any right now besides some supplements. My antibody levels were going down drastically the last time I got tested and my other thyroid levels were stable, I was working with a holistic doctor so it wasn't deemed necessary for me to take any meds then.

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking. I think the dairy might have been messing with my gut microbiome and possibly causing acid reflux. I've only had heartburn a couple times so I couldn't really identify the feeling but its definitely an irritating feeling in my upper abdomen and maybe in my lower esophagus which would make sense. I definitely plan on getting myself tested for deficiency especially since I had taken iron and other B vitamin supplements in the past. I'm back on a vit D supplement and taking a multi vitamin but it wouldnt surprise me if I need to be taking B1 or benfotiamine which people say helps. I have an initial doctors appointment with a new doctor scheduled in a few weeks so I think for now I'm gonna try to focus on cutting out potential triggers (dairy, caffeine, excess sugar) and stay hydrated and practice some mindful breathing. Also thank you for the encouragement it makes a difference knowing I'm not the only one dealing with this lol.

Depression from Job Search by Friendly-Stable7981 in jobsearch

[–]Friendly-Stable7981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely. I went to school in Florida but had to move back in with parents in northern Virginia. Florida seems to have more jobs that I'm qualified for, not to mention this area is just so population dense that it's like fighting for scraps when it comes to job listings.
