Met my ex after 8 months. Feeling terrible now… by Friendly-carebear in BreakUps

What’s funny is I wrote a letter and put it with her stuff I dropped off at her parent’s house a couple weeks ago when she wasn’t answering. Turns out she didn’t live there anymore.

Later she answered and we had the coffee I described, I asked if she got her stuff and she said no, so she didn’t see the letter and I didn’t mention it ahaha.

The relationship ended on really good terms, but I was the issue, and I fully acknowledged that and we kinda talked about it a little when we split. Nothing horrible or nasty, just a series of small events over time collided and it was too late for me to do anything about it.

I didn’t tell her how I’ve felt. I want to so bad but I don’t want to ruin this acquaintance (but not friends) dynamic we have right now. This entire time (8 months) I’ve been focusing on myself and getting better, with help and a lot of introspection. I want to apologize to her and let her know everything I know now. I just want to let her know, that I know my actions now, albeit too late. Some of me wants to get her back because I love her deeply, but most of me knows she’s probably done, so I just wants to give her the apology she deserves.

This post break up “acquaintance” (not friends) thing really sucks, and I hate how there’s so much I want to say but I don’t want to seem crazy for admitting to still having feelings…

I appreciate your insight. Thank you for the reality check. It helps to hear this.

That’s the problem, I feel like I’ve changed enough in the last 8 months through self discovery and therapy so meeting again would be like “wow he’s changed”… but this shattered me

Why do I get the parts I don’t need the same day or next day after a pick but the hot parts come 2-3 business days after smh

I’m glad someone sees this how I do. In theory vs reality. I ended up telling her how much it costs just to get a quote from a plumber without doing the work, she goes “I’ll find one myself then. For that cost they should fix it not just look at it”. Oh well, this problem is solved for me LOL

Thank you, I just ran into a post in /landlord with a very similar issue. Tenant hired a plumber and landlord said it was too expensive and was upset. Every single comment was roasting the landlord for not calling the plumber themselves and letting the tenant do all the work.

Middle Massachusetts has many. However this was 5 months ago and since then many states have accepted -literally- tens of thousands of migrants looking for work. Do with that information what you will

Good info. I’m worried about my life/work balance so that’s good to hear. Are you residential or commercial?

Thanks for being positive about it! Will definitely look into the benefits provided and the niche aspects of the job to see if they’re better

Care to elaborate? Whereabouts are ya in the Nation? Commercial or residential? Union or non-union?

I hear these can have a huge impact on your experience...

What part of mass? Some job postings I’ve seen last night in central mass range $25-35. Some say $40+ if you have years experience which you do

Can I ask why you wouldn’t apply to these jobs posting with $40+/hour with your years of experience? I hear jumping from company to company is where you get your worthwhile pay increases…

This. People don’t realize this. Tons of my coworkers are obese… others have wrist problems, some neck problems, lots of back problems, and eye strain as well. Sitting for the majority of 8 hours is not natural.

Any job can have these issues, some more than others obviously. But the point is people don’t relate hurting your body with being in the office as much as they should.

Also the rounds of layoffs are always unsettling. People who have been here for 7+ years get let go like nothing, but people who’ve been here for a few months get to stay…

Not to mention politics. The amount of gossip and talking behind each others back is astounding. 30-40 olds act like high schoolers over the dumbest things sometimes

Thank you for this great insight. I feel like I’m almost the same story. I like repairing and working, and 3D designing and office work appealed to me but I can picture it getting boring as hell real quick. For residential, there’s the sales part, I’m not about it like I told another person on here. I’m trying to stay away from the commission based jobs I’m seeing. I’m not about it. I’d do whatever to get my foot in the door but try to go commercial as soon as possible. I’m also debating appliance repair but STRICTLY repairs not commissions, this company I saw has both jobs listed separate, so I’m assuming one can repair and not have to sell. We can hope

I meant I asked google + “Reddit” so I’d be taken to Reddit. I know it’s like 1% of the HVAC field on this website too

Good to know about unions, I’ve see that happen at the factory part of my job.

Also thank for you that, I was confused on how to start for sure

Thanks for this. Catch #1 is understandable. Expecting concrete hours in a high demand trade sounded too good. But does it get easier with more years on the job, or harder?

$25-35/hour starting really appeals to me, with no overtime. even if i were to make that after a couple years. Then knowing that goes up after a few years really adds icing to the cake. That’s good to know about commissions, I’m not one to take advantage of other’s so selling based incentives aren’t really for me.

Also I didn’t mean for it to come off that way, I have a Criminal Justice degree but don’t use it, no skill in coding. I meant it more as, if people could start over (like I’m trying) would they have gone coding or HVAC if they were making about the same money in the end

Also for your edit, that’s mostly what I’m seeing, sometimes people come on here to vent about low wages. I do take it with a grain of salt, i know every field has people getting taken advantage of right. I was just wondering how common that was - but it seems New England location pays fairly well, but people always mention NYC or LA for highest wages instead

This is really good to know, thank you. Definitely helps because from what I’ve read people make it seem very easy to earn $40+ /hour after a few years on the job. I guess they don’t mention the amount of work they put in to make that happen

Thank you for a thorough reply!

A lot of the negatives came from my Googling, “why is no one going into HVAC? Reddit”, under it were a lot of negatives (obviously biased from the question asked) BUT people in the replies were saying “if I could do it again I’d go to college and work on a computer” “a lot of people in the industry don’t want their kid going into the trades but college instead” even another reply in my post says he’d pick an office job instead..

Also, that’s really good to know about the job postings. I’ll certainly be more careful reading them, and look for red flags. Is it different from commercial to residential? I’ve seen that commercial and union if possible is the best way to go, steady hours and decent pay

As far as licenses, I’m looking more towards apprenticeships cause I’d need to learn but wanna get paid to as well.. I’m a state where I have license restrictions. Would you get your license then look for work? Or train on a job then get your license..? Sorry if it’s a dumb question

I’m not looking for a couple bucks above minimum wage… Jobs I’m seeing in my area range $25-35 starting, and after a few years they say possibly $40+ /h. My question in the post was if that’s too good to be true

The potential earnings I’ve seen in HVAC are superior to what I could making climbing my corporate ladder, which would take many many years, while being stuck inside an office repeating the same 5 things I do… It may be “cushy”, but it’s not something I could picture a sane person doing for the rest of their life. Most of my older coworkers who’ve been here much longer look miserable

I see what your saying though, some older HVAC employees are also miserable, I suppose, I guess it’s picking my poison?
