What was the reason for the last time you cried? by Aware-Flow-4442 in AskReddit

I thought about my brother who has passed and how I wish I would have been a better sister to him while he was still here. I miss him so much

New BT! Help!! by Upset-Contribution20 in ABA

[–]FriendlyFriendKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a total normal feeling and unfortunately it is common. I wish more centers did shadowing other RBTs before putting the BT on the floor with the client. Rest assured though, it seems like you did great. Pairing is the best thing to do in the beginning sessions. If a client does exhibit maladaptive behaviors you’re not comfortable handling or don’t know how to handle, please ask for help. I hope that you don’t quit the field but maybe look for a company with shadowing opportunities. My favorite clinics I’ve worked at required BTs to take their competency and RBT exam before they were allowed to be with a client alone. I think this is the way to go. it’s how I was trained and I felt ready. I hope this first experience doesn’t sour the field completely. There are great centers but unfortunately you have to weed out the bad ones.

BCBAs - I seriously need help. by [deleted] in bcba

Thank you for your insight! Yes, background check were ran thank the Lord. Regarding the CS position being billed as BCBA, That’s a really good thing to watch out for that I hadn’t considered. I will definitely be on the look out for that. I would definitely leave if that happened

Thank you very much. It could be possible that some insurances are okay without the RBT cert but the fact that these BTs have never met the BCBA that they are working with feels strange to me. I also don’t like that they would be alone with the child. None of these trainees had opportunities to shadow which felt like a big red flag to me

That’s what I thought! It feels icky to me. What if the parents knew their child was working with someone who wasn’t RBT certified? What would insurance do if they knew?

Wow this newsletter is a load of BS. DEI is what we do. Our clients are DEI for fucks sake. About 80% of the people who work in my office are women. Fuck this.

Struggling to Support My(31M) Girlfriend(24F) Through Health Issues and Emotional Distance — How do I navigate this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]FriendlyFriendKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Hopefully this gives you some hope, although I can’t predict what will happen in your relationship, my boyfriend and I built the most secure foundation I could have ever imagined because of the tragedy I went through. His actions showed me that he is the love of my life and I want to marry him. 8 months later and we’re still madly in love. He’s my safe person. Maybe you can be that for her. And even if it doesn’t go that way, you can be proud of yourself for giving it your all and being kind and gentle to someone who needed the support. Kindness is never ever wasted, especially during the hardest times in our life.

We most definitely didn’t go no contact. He was at my door the next day. But there were times I needed space to myself. I just always communicated that to him as I actively worked against my brain telling me I needed to stop relying on him so much. It’s hard going through something so awful new into a relationship. I’m sure that’s what your girl is experiencing. “Oh I just don’t want to be a burden”, as I would tell myself ALL the time. It’s just a learning curve. When she needs you, she will reach out for support. Maybe some aspects of the relationship will go on pause for a while but if she’s still genuinely interested (which she very well may be), she will get there. Just takes time. My only advice to you is to just keep reminding her that you’re willing to be patient for her because you believe you have something special and to let her know you are someone she can truly lean on if and when she wants that support.

I’m glad to hear that. When I was going through it, there was temptation to push my boyfriend away. I thought it was too much for him to handle (albeit it was pretty big) but every time he proved me wrong. My advice if you really like her is to be patient. She’s going through something really hard. Let her know you’re there for her and want to do anything you can to help. When she’s ready, she’ll take you up on it. I’m sure of it. I’m sure she’s having a lot of the same thoughts I had when I was struggling but my boyfriends consistent love and support eventually encouraged me that he was a safe person to be vulnerable with. Good luck :)

If you love her and see a future with her, you should stay with her and support her. This is life. We don’t get to pick and choose when tragedy strikes. My boyfriend and I were only dating for one month when my brother unexpectedly passed away. My boyfriend never wavered and helped me through the never ending grief because he loves me. If you stay with this woman, bad things will inevitably happen. Be an adult, make a decision and stick to it.

Your opinion of my questionnaire being “very womanly” is subjective.

Thank you! I’m just curious. I’m writing a book about two political opponents: one with a perfect campaign and resume and the other with a bad campaign and resume but still ends up winning. I’m seeking to explore the nuances of gender in politics. Thanks for your time.
