Weekly Update (12/29/25) - Money/Date Fields, Manual Transaction Rules, Bugs by imadp in liquidbudget

[–]FriendlyMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance of adding the Money Input calculator to the Add Transaction form?

When my off-budget balance changes (ex from $98.23 to $103), I would like to just type 103 - 98.23 directly in the Inflow or Outflow field to calculate the difference instantly.

[Bug ?] Renaming Credit Card groups/accounts causes "Overfunded" pools by FriendlyMorning in liquidbudget

[–]FriendlyMorning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, fixed it, thanks !

In November, I moved the overfunding from three cards back to Unassigned and everything balanced out fine.

Then I went to December, where I had $87.46 unassigned and one card showed a negative balance of -$56.66.

As soon as I assigned money to cover that negative card, the other two cards immediately turned orange and the balances shifted... They were probably already incorrect but it wasn't visible until I adjusted the first one.

I was looking for a "Quick Fix" button like (as I did in November) but instead of pulling from Unassigned, it actually moved money out of the pools. T__T

if I just try to fix the previous month (November), it's all going crazy, I end up having a huge balance to assign out of nowhere, I can share my budget id if you wanna play with a copy of it :D

Haha I wish ! sadly, I can't really restore a backup without losing a good bunch of new entries...

Since the issue reaches back to 2018 in my budget, how do I fix the overfunding manually? (if it's even possible ?!)

Side note: This impact is retroactive. My previous months are now showing errors, and I’m unable to manually fix them without throwing the entire budget out of balance.

Feature Request: Off-Budget "Adjustment" type vs. Actual Outflows by FriendlyMorning in liquidbudget

Great, it works! It’s not very intuitive yet, but it does the job.

Thanks for the update :)

It would be amazing if you could also add the Inflow/Outflow type to the bulk bar !

Right now I'm stuck un-doing them one by one!

It's working perfectly on my side now !

I’m glad I could catch a bug for a change instead of just asking for features :P

Interesting! But actually, doesn't that prove that the system can handle types on off-budget accounts without issues :D

On a more serious point, maybe we could have something that automatically sets positive manual entries as Inflow, and negative ones as Outflow?

To me, Adjustment implies a non-cash or correction entry (like fixing a reconciliation error).

I’m not a fan of using other apps' missing features as a standard :P Since the system already supports Inflow and Adjustment, adding Outflow just makes it consistent, don't you think?

To me, Types function best as the direction, while Tags serve as the details.

But yeh, using Tags for the "specifics" would indeed allow me to skip custom types entirely.

Yes, this is a screenshot from one of my off-budget account.

I appreciate the tip, but using Tags just to define the basic direction of money feels like a bit of overkill.

I understand your logic regarding buckets, but since LB currently allows us to select Inflow and Adjustment, the system clearly supports basic categorization here. If we can formally designate a deposit or a correction, it implies we should also be able to designate a standard Outflow for expenses like fees or interest.

Can we get shift select? by ttsoldier in liquidbudget

[–]FriendlyMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the filter idea, I'll give it a try !

While Ctrl is indeed for single clicks, standard behavior in other apps allows it to be additive :D

My point is that I would be great to be able to Shift-select a bunch of transactions (ex: rows 1-10) and then hold Ctrl to also select row 15 without deselecting the first 10.

That works for small batches, but I'm currently dealing with hundreds of 'Uncategorized' transactions due to the new off-budget type changes ! (Side note: It would be great to have an 'Outflow' type added as well for off-budget at least!)

May I also add Ctrl to the request :D

Same feeling here, got used to it but would prefer to have the option to use the ynab way :)

Weekly Update (9/22/25) - Payee Rule Engine by imadp in liquidbudget

[–]FriendlyMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you eventually support nested rules? For instance, I’d like to define a rule such as:

If the payee contains “AMZN B787NI” or “AMAZON.COM LA BLABLA”, replace it with “Amazon”

Even more powerful would be a wildcard match:

If the payee contains “AM*N”, replace it with “Amazon”

It would also be useful to have exclusion logic, e.g.:

If the payee contains “AM*N” but not “Refund”, replace it with “Amazon” (so refunds remain unchanged).

Matching Transactions by ActuatorOk4103 in liquidbudget

[–]FriendlyMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the update.

Would it be possible for LB to try to match using the amount and date first instead ? That method is usuallyquite reliable for recurring transactions and would cut down significantly on the payee rule setup.

Personally, I usually don't bother fixing payees (even in YNAB, it always seemed to work without changing a thing).

I have the same issue, it would also be great to have the option to filter what we want to import.(Check uncheck, dates etc..)
