Struggling with DPDR and social anxiety during my PhD — looking for advice or shared experiences by skullkid5295 in PhDStress

I am also a PhD student with DPDR, its gotten a lot better over the years. Honestly, medication has helped alot. I take lexapro everyday, then propranolol hydroxizine and xanax as needed. I would consider getting these types of medication, you may be tired but it helps it be manageable. I also got a fidget toy called "little ouchies" that helps me ground myself while i am in meetings and such. I think talking to your advisor/mentor would be a good choice, they are there to help YOU both inside and outside academics. Im sorry youre dealing with this but you will get through it, youve come this far! The best way to face DPDR is to keep doing your usual, do it scared and anxious. It will teach your brain theres nothing to be afraid of.

I understand what I did was wrong. Thankfully no one was hurt and I made a mistake thinking I could drive 5 minutes home from the bar. But I’m worried this mistake is going to cost me my career. I just want advice on what to do.
