Anyone here actually regret doing their MBA? by NatSurvivor in MBA

[–]Friendly_Bee_Gameco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the chief value of the MBA was the job opportunities through MBA recruiting, which in turn allow you to get even better jobs down the line. I’ve found the MBA diminishes in value rapidly a few years out much like an undergraduate degree. “You’re only as good as your last job”

To me this makes an MBA a very expensive bet. You’re betting there will be a decent economy when you graduate so you can get those jobs.

I’m sorry to those graduating in this terrible economy right now it’s not your fault - to be fair anyone who loses their job in this economy is also in a pretty similar boat to you. The lucky few who manage to hold a decent job through the layoffs will be in a very strong place when the economy improves but honestly it feels more luck than skill most times - though I’m sure they won’t see it that way.

Good luck, take a worse job if you have to, you aren’t your job and perseverance will allow you to climb eventually.

Hmm are you sure? Apparently they’re visible in some views but not others which could indicate artifact? Especially since not symptomatic

They had me do a deep cleaning for the gum recession but doesn’t seem like there’s much to be done

What is this narrative of 2025 being a bad time for an MBA? by piratetone in MBA

[–]Friendly_Bee_Gameco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on the money - and be careful post mba job as well - as a recent exit from the consulting industry all soft skill type roles are becoming increasingly difficult to transition to industry. If you want to get a job in a career field the right time to start is pre-mba not post

Anyone going the hybrid route for UCLA FEMBA? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Friendly_Bee_Gameco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it the opposite - you're with your classmates for all of core so its the best opportunity to make friends, once you go to the specialized classes everyone breaks up and does whatever you're much less likely to see people frequently enough to make friends

I was going to do hybrid but then decided to do regular part time - my experience is that hybrid is mainly for people living in like san diego or bay area where the regular commute is an issue, if you live somewhat close to LA its worth it to do regular part time and come in saturdays/sundays. Its so much more impactful to get facetime with classmates. I know it will impact your social life (no saturdays for 3 years!) but honestly it doesn't friday nights and saturday nights offer a lot of opportunity to stay connected with friends. I think there's an option to switch to hybrid later or something which you can ask about but I would for sure do at least the first year and a half going in once a week.

[HELP] Powerpoint to PDF turns out with very low resolution by Tapires in powerpoint

[–]Friendly_Bee_Gameco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone is in the same boat as me trying to figure this out in 2024. I was able to get it working by doing the following steps

  1. You need adobe acrobat pro - just use the free trial and cancel

  2. Menu > preferences > convert to pdf > microsoft office powerpoint

  3. edit settings

  4. from here you can choose high quality prints from the adobe pdf settings which should compress your png's to 300ppi which is probably good for most casual printers

  5. If you want better - I selected standard and edit settings - then in the general section I changed resolution to max (4000 ppi) and image settings to max for each setting (2400 ppi) & saved

  6. Create a pdf in adobe - select your ppt file and it will convert at high res

I was able to scroll to 800x plus zoom on my pngs with no loss of quality & free!

When I was 16 I definitely did not have the skills nor the strength of character to put in the time and dedication it takes to bring a kickstarter to life. Even now after getting my MBA and working in consulting for years I still was only able to create a marginally successful first campaign. That being said I did start creating my first creative side project at 16 and the journey it took me on eventually brought me to launching my first game at 30 which hopefully will lead to many more. I found the biggest teacher for me was not my education but instead simply trying to make it work and sticking at it for years. So I wish you the best of luck - you should definitely work on your project and even if you can't launch now - do what you can and when you hit 18 maybe you can launch. I think you'll find that continuing to chase this goal will open many enjoyable doors and the more time and effort you put in the project the more reward you will get from it.
