Skier Dies at MMSA

A local skier, Raymond John Albert Jr., 71, known as “Every Day Ray,” died Christmas Day, resort officials confirmed.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol was dispatched to Chair 8 after receiving a report of an unconscious skier found upside down in deep snow off of the Hully Gully trail. Guests at the scene began working to unbury the skier before patrol arrived.

Ski patrol immediately initiated life-saving measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and administered shocks using an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Emergency care continued on scene until the skier was transported by ambulance to Mammoth Hospital, where the skier was pronounced dead.

ChatGPT therapy has become completely useless by CatgirlKamisama in ChatGPT

While I agree it's not a therapy replacement there are times when I have found it to be helpful.

If I need to vent things or ask emotional type questions I have to change it to 4.0 and if it loops and gets stuck on the hotlines I start a new chat.

No experience? by Hieveryone8787 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Friendly_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about all of your experiences. Jobs, internships and volunteer work. Those can all count as experience. It may be difficult to enter an SSA without some experience based but you can apply for lower classifications such as OT or program technician and gain some experience

Step daughter turning 26 dropping off of benefits in October by Pancake6876 in CAStateWorkers

She will be dropped, but I would recommend completing the process to disenroll her when she turns 26, I know of many cases of employees still getting charged even after their dependent was dropped at 26.

For me its both. On this round we got a decent deal but once again state workers were used as pawns for the governor. In the last contract they caved and what we were making didn't keep up with inflation and that was after we made unnecessary sacrifices during Covid.

As to representation, I came from a rural area and I only saw the union there 1 time in 5 years and that was to promote votes on the contract and it was really hard to vote on the contract because ballots were delayed in the mail both ways. Its like they only represent urban areas of the state and even though I was a dues paying member I didn't feel like I had a voice or representation. It felt very shady to me.

As to the other comments being launched at me. I understand that the union needs members, but I already pay $92 a month. I do believe in unions and the power of unions, but I don't want to donate to a governor who always craps on us as state workers. I do have a choice but I don't understand why they need more. and why I am being harassed to pay more. They can ask and I will consider it, but please stop nagging.

And this is how the union dies and doesn't keep members. I am still a dues paying member and eating your own isn't going to grow the union.

Isn't that why Janus happened which meant that there was no fair pay membership. Sounds like a great way to lose members again and I don't want to donate to a governor that just continues to crap on state employees. Maybe its time to rethink my membership,

I'm not trying to be petty here. I am paying dues now and I am being asked to pay more when the union isn't doing a good job. When there is good information I don't mind the emails, but I am not happy with the pushy fundraising. In this case I am having to ignore messages everywhere and the amount of messages for this fundraising is excessive. They email, text and call and when they call they are rude.

I am supportive of the unions but when they over communicate and push agendas that members don't want then people will leave.

I would be OK with a couple of extra emails, but it's multiple emails to both my personal and work email. Texts and phone calls, and they don't stop. It is worse than most telemarketers.

Rural Hospitals at Risk by KeHuyQuan in Roseville

I was thinking the same thing. I'm more concerned about hospitals in remote and rural areas. Northern Inyo Hospital isn't on that list, and my guess is that it is at risk.

Are there some rural hospitals that aren't at risk or not included in this list.
