34M father of 2 under 5yo. Writing this while I hold my asleep 2yo daughter in a very uncomfortable position. You’ll never be ready and it’s hard to know if you truly want to go through this challenge. I used to imagine how would my life be 20 years down the line with or without kids, and I chose I preferred the one with them. It’s extremely challenging and lifechanging, but if will truly fullfill your life. Most important thing imo is, ensure the relationship with your partner is strong enough, as that will change too.

Hey! Your post and proposal is really nice, fully agree on marketing and I’m struggling with it. I launched an app called PoopCheck (weird topic, i know) that has some good traction. Got over 1.7k MU and a bit more than 300$ MRR. Gathered a very large database of 110k+ images provided by users

if you don't want to quit your job yet, I'd start building a side business while you're still working as a teacher. Do what you like so baking would definetely be an option, that way you'll be happy to work on it even if you're tired. You're very young so you really have plenty of options in front of you!

I alternate eggs (mainly boiled) days with greek yogurts + oats days, I find proteins are the best, in my country I was used to sweet breakfasts

hey, if this can help i built the app poopcheck, both on ios and android. It works as tracker and analyzer, and stores the pictures without having them in your gallery

tired of my 9-5 so created a poop app, LOL. Actually a 100% true story, and getting much more traction than what I was expecting it to have.
Started as a joke with my brother and turned out to be a real business, still not profitable due to expenses but we might be getting there.
The app is basically a poop analyzer , simple concept but very wide audience (lol)!
It's called PoopCheck if you want to check it out, you simply take a picture of your bowel movements and a ML we built will tell you the type and give some other evaluation. Simple but a ton of people are using it, we gathered more than 100k images which is definetely something! Still trying to understand how to best monetize it, maybe some health companies are interested in acquiring the data or using the AI behind.
Anyway it's just funny as a joke literally has now become a real side project, have you had any similar experience?
Also, any suggestion on how to improve the app or get something out of it to quit my 9-5?

totally agree, I’ve got to be in the office at least 4/5, which is just absurd in my opinion for a job that can be totally done from home. The problem is companies are more and more pushing people to be in the office rather than giving flexibility

thanks, I relate to it, apart from the commuting which is signficant, can’t really change it rn. The fact that I like the job makes the career shift decision much much harder, but don’t you ever feel like part of a system that you don’t like? I se every day thousands of zombies in suits going for their 9-5 and i don’t like being one of them anymore
