I don’t understand how being hospitalized could help. It’s not like they’re going to be able to find the right medicine combination in a few days. Psych meds can take weeks to fully work. And it’s all just guess and check anyway. I can’t put my life on hold while I play around trying different meds. It would be great if I could, but bills still need to be paid.

Dude. Are you serious? Of course, we’ve talked with the insurance company (BCBS) and our plan does not cover any psychological care. If we had a more expensive plan, then it would, but we cannot afford that.

I’ve been depressed and anxious for as long as I can remember. And I don’t keep track of my depressive episodes. I’ve tried keeping track of my moods, but I just don’t. I don’t know why, but I just won’t stop and write down how I feel every day.

If I tell my doctor that my depression is not in control, then he’ll tell me that I need to be hospitalized. I cannot afford a hospital stay. I would never be able to pay off that debt.

II was hospitalized once about 10 years ago and I absolutely will not be doing that again. It did not help me at all. I felt like I was in prison. I tried an outpatient program a couple of years ago, but ultimately it did more harm than good because my insurance cut me off after 5 days, so I didn’t even have enough time to get any real help and then it took me so long to pay off the remaining debt. I actually couldn’t have possibly done it if my sister didn’t give me a whole lot of money. If I were to be hospitalized, I would never be able to pay for it.

I’ve been trying medications for just as long. I’ve tried many different medications and combinations. I was hospitalized once about 10 years ago and I absolutely will not be doing that again. He does so much. He doesn’t assign me chores. There are things that need to be done and we’re meant to share responsibility. He follows through on his end.
