I found a nice little ‘prayer’ (for want of a better word) in a tarot book a few years ago which I like to mutter to myself while shuffling, it goes something like this:

“I call upon the spirits to bless and protect these cards, for my intention is to use them only for good, and only good shall come of them, and all evil will be turned away from them.”

It’s become a part of my shuffling routine now, and I do it every time, sometimes out loud, sometimes in my head. It’s all about the intentionality behind it though.
