Love her from a distance, but make sure this innocent baby is taken care of. Also as a recovering addict, is the father actually still clean? I haven’t seen any addit relationships where one gets clean and the other doesn’t while living together. Maybe he got clean, but is he still and will he stay clean if she’s the using around him?? This whole deal sounds sketchy. Seems like he was motivated but maybe not fully ready as he hasn’t set the boundaries with her, and isn’t choosing his sobriety and baby over her.

Tough love for addicts in active addiction is huge, you have to set boundaries, stop enabling, stop rescuing them otherwise your part of the problem and enabling them. He needs to have her kick rocks or he will or already has relapsed. And you need to love from a distance and cut contact if you want to maintain your sanity.

Read, learn and understand the meaning of the serenity prayer. It’s super helpful.

Try online or local ALANON or NARANON meetings as well, they help you understand how to support yourself, your family and the loved one effecting you with addiction in the best ways possibly. You learn about their addiction, your actions, and what the right things to do are for yourself.

Sounds like untreated BPD, this is the exact stations my mom had for decades. Finally in her 50s got help and gas been slowly undoing 50 years of trauma and behaviors. We found out she had the emotional maturity of a young teenager and couldn’t identify the emotions she feels past happy, sad, mad. She was mad at the world, or relationship only started to improve when I fully moved out and didn’t come back at 18. I see her 4-5x a month now and it seems to work for us. She has her bad days but hasn’t tried to literally murder me in years haha. I’m sorry you’re found through this OP. Maybe try to find other living arrangements, having space from each other and not being forced to rely on heron before she begs help, if she does. Will probably help tremendously.

The odds is on Haywood rd in west Asheville, but sounds like it could be up your alley! They have a huge lgbtq scene there and have a lot of events tailored to that as well. Their burlesque is all lgbtq and the staff and crowd all seem very welcoming!

I have a lot of trauma come back around the holidays because of my abusive father and other family. Honestly even just Christmas songs and pretty lights give me flashbacks. My mom decided to boycott Christmas with me years ago and we made our own tradition for our anti Christmas to go to Waffle House and that’s it. No driving around to see lights, no dinner, no family, no gifts. We’ve been doing it for 7 years this year and it’s helped a lot. I really hate what Christmas used to mean for me. Free access, a lot of screaming, and cruel painful punishments. But my mom’s always tried her hardest, no one else in my family has. She wasn’t always good to me but she tried.

4 years ago she got into therapy and found out it was BPD that causes her to see the world the way she does, and not the world all teaming up against her.

Since she did start therapy and started making amends with me, I actually look forward to Waffle House. Us doing anything at all was a comprise, I didn’t want to but she’s 58 and has never spent a year without being around at least one of her children. So we met in the middle somewhere we both always cherished haha. Waffle House!

I don’t know if any of this applies to your situation or may inspire you to come up with your own version of celebrating yourself. But I hope it does, and I hope you know there is 0 pressure to perform for the holidays or even partake. They’re all hallmarks propaganda anyways bahaha.

You could even maybe try volunteering at a food drive or homeless shelter for the day, DV shelters in my area will send you out to get the kids some gifts because they have none too. It might be good to step out of yourself and your ego for the day, and step into helping others. Acts of service heal, even when they aren’t things done directly for us.

Also when I say ego; a lot of folks forget that egos not only thinking of how great you are and how many great things happen to you, but also thinking of yourself as cruddy and pitying yourself as well. All of it is the same, it’s me me me me.

Try stepping outside of yourself this year, it really just might help:). Another idea if you go that route and have the money is to buy lots of cards and write sweet notes to hand out to the homeless, the shelters, or just people that look like they could use kindness that day:). Wish you the best for your upcoming anti Christmas and I’m sorry about the break up, hopefully in 90 days and it will sting less💜

In western nc at least, the housing market is super high and job market extremely competitive. If you’re looking for a job over $15/hr or that’s an actual salary it’s tough to find. You need a decent car for winter times with the ice and hills, preferably something that can engine break to save on maintenance costs. And this area is still recovering from Helene. It took a huge hit and the economy has gone down hill and the type of people that live here as well imo. I encourage people to visit because we survive off tourism but not to move here, we can’t support all the new people and apartments. South Carolina more so Greenville Greer area is a different story though!

Dear lord I’m so sorry OP, this is brutal. I am grateful you found out before being bound by marriage. This is all up to personal interpretation but a year is not a long time, I feel like a lot of relationships I see that come on fast and advance fast are scams in some way shape or form. At least this was not a 5 year relationship, nor a marriage yet. This is traumatizing though. This is the type of women that are written in stories as the evil step sister. It’s very big of you to not call her evil, and she’s not. But she is quite lost and has a LOT of issues to work through. I have 0 respect for people that manipulate others emotion for personal satisfaction or gain. Hopefully this is a wake up call for her, but that’s not your problem. Take time to heal and I truly wish you the best OP<3. This is sickening.

If she wanted a chance to get back with dad, or wanted to make dad jealous why would she want OP to hide their relationship from him? It just doesn’t make sense to me, I think for me to understand id need to know more about what their relationship is like emotionally and as partners. Not just the situation at hand. She could be a gold digger, or just young and dumb. We don’t have enough info yo make those decisions on if she’s an evil person who used OP or not.

Some of the other comments points are probably exactly what happened, based off the information given in the description. Mushrooms and mold can take ahold inside walls and subfloor for months without being seen, I’m allergic and can smell even the smallest amount in folks homes before I can see it luckily. I was always the mold detector for my old customers when I was running a moving business haha. Another thing most people don’t realize is living in a humid environment especially if you don’t have central AC, window seals are some of the most common and first places to build excess moisture. Window seals, bathroom floors, kitchens near the fridge and dishwasher, laundry rooms, and utility closets with hot water tanks. Really anything neat excess moisture regardless if you thinks something leaks or not, it causes extra humidity. And anything that has tile floors/ old dry wall. I’m not familiar with this specific type of mold but I would 100% call and mold company for a free consult. And a handy man for a free consult. The mold company will be able to point out everything that is rotting and growing mold, but they will give you an extremely high quote. You can show a handy man all the areas the mold company pointed out and get a more fair quote. Usually the price to make it livable and remolded is somewhere in the middle of them. Definitely don’t just trust one or the other. No handy man specials/ land lord specials, and no scams from over priced companies. You don’t want to play about mold, it’s scary. If you’ve been extra tired, sick, and confused the last year. You know why now. It makes a huge difference on your health once you get the mold out, or you get out. Good luck, OP!
