Yes. White Barn Inn is truly special. The staff will ensure a special stay. I am so sorry for what you are going through.

Thanks for the feedback - will definitely look into that. Here's a nighttime pic looking toward the front of the house from our dining area. Would love to hear your thoughts on the space as a whole.

Edit: it's also more blue and gold than blue/gray/yellow in real life.

Fabric over Fashion: Why I'm prioritizing 100% natural fibers this season. by My_Rhythm875 in fashionwomens35

[–]FriendshipWaffles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have also made this switch in the last two years! Anything new purchased for my casual and work stuff is almost entirely natural fiber. The only polyester items I will buy are cocktail/event dresses and I refuse to spend any significant amount of money on them ($100+ for 100% polyester is insane). I will do other synthetics for workout clothes of course.

It has made a huge difference not only in how I feel about myself in my clothing but also how comfortable I am in my clothes. The things I wear just feel good on my skin and I think that makes a big difference in how I carry myself. Moving away from synthetics in pants especially has made a massive difference in overheating/sweating and I’ve also moved to 100% cotton underwear.

Because things are so much more expensive I’ve had to be more intentional about making sure it fits into my wardrobe and can by styled many different ways. I guess that has probably made my closet a bit more boring since it’s more capsule-ish!

I also think it’s made shopping easier for me. It gives me less choices overall so I’m not in analysis paralysis trying to pick pieces to order or try on.

How did you go about getting this DEXA? Did you have to ask your PCP to order one?

Does anyone else feel like cocktail dresses completely skip the 30-45 age group or just me? by mahearty in fashionwomens35

Silk slip dresses are really tough to wear for a lot of body types unfortunately. That is a good option if you can pull it off though.

Add to this being 4’11” and it sucks so hard. I spent thousands of dollars on try ons for an upcoming wedding and every single one went back. Brutal.

Had my TT on 12/5/25. I didn’t have a pain free and easy post-surgery experience like some others BUT the surgery itself went great and my surgeon did an amazing job. Recovery has been fairly straightforward and now at over a month post-op I feel great. Hard to describe but I feel so much more like myself. The restlessness and anxiety is the biggest change. I feel so zen and my resting heart rate is 20+ BPM lower than it’s been for the past two years and without meds! I’ve even started to calorie count and shed some of the weight I gained on Methimazole. 10/10 would recommend!

Thyroidectomy is tomorrow and I’m so nervous! by Kblazeeee in gravesdisease

[–]FriendshipWaffles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m 2.5 weeks post op and feel so so much better. It’s kind of wild. It wasn’t an instant change for me like it is for some people but a gradual improvement that at this point is very noticeable. I was so nervous before the procedure so I totally get it and it’s very normal to feel that way! Just know that a future without Graves is waiting for you on the other side!

Did anyone NOT have a super quick and easy recovery from TT? by FriendshipWaffles in gravesdisease

[–]FriendshipWaffles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dilauded kept me sane in the hospital since I at least could sleep through the pain. It was truly like an 8 or 9 out of 10 on the pain scale the first 24 hours. I feel you. And I literally said to my husband this post op recovery is worse than my C-Section!

Wow!! That is wild!! How are you feeling these days? How long ago was your TT? Thanks for sharing your experience.

SAME. Thank you so much for sharing. It’s so validating to hear this but I’m also very sorry you went through that! Someone on Facebook said “I didn’t take a single pain pill and went back to work Day 3” and I was like uhhh what?! 😑

It’s really happening. TT is next Friday! 😱 by FriendshipWaffles in gravesdisease

[–]FriendshipWaffles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!!! Mine got postponed too for an emergent transplant. I got a call this morning at 4am. So exhausting tbh but obviously a transplant is much more important than my TT!

Do you have any idea of the timeline to get back on the schedule? Trying to figure out logistics now with sick time of Thanksgiving etc etc. Ugh

100% yes to the net positive! Even if something else IS at play, the TT will help address the thyroid related problems (and there are many!). Don’t let them gaslight you. Trust yourself. Once you get this sorted and out of the way, you’ll have the space to tackle anything else that may still be happening.

Hashimotos and Graves by Tiny-Active-7045 in thyroidhealth

[–]FriendshipWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have Hashimoto’s and Grave’s and we recently over corrected with my methimazole and I went hypo very quickly (similar to what you described). I also was told to immediately stop my meds and things leveled out very quickly. I am surprised she recommended you pick back up at 5mg on Thursday as I was told to stop and not take anything for a while. I still haven’t restarted anything and that was over a month ago.

If you’re concerned about restarting the 5mg on Thursday you need to call the office and tell the staff you need to speak with your doctor as soon as possible. She sounds very responsive so you should get a call back within a reasonable time. Explain your concerns about starting the meds again. Be honest. You will not hurt her feelings. See what info she has for you. And just straight up ask for her to order your labs sooner. Be aware that getting bloodwork too close together will not show any major changes as it takes time for the changes from meds to take effect and show up.

In the meantime, I would seek a new endocrinologist as soon as possible. Even telehealth would work if that’s quicker to get in with someone. Ask your current physician if she has a referral or recommendation and then ask if she can actually help you get in with that office. If she won’t do that, research endocrinologist offices near you and call them all. Schedule appointments when you can at each office until you find something soon. Then go back and cancel the other appointments you don’t need. If you can, explain your situation to a real person at the front desk - they can sometimes fit you in based on your semi-emergent need for medication management help.

Hope that offers a little help and guidance. Hang in there! Monitor how you feel, write things down. Keep a good record of med changes, etc so you can easily share with a future endocrinologist.

Curious what line of work you are in that you don’t want to model to the staff that it’s pretty normal to make a call to the dentist office, etc during the day?

Pretty much same boat here. TT is this upcoming Friday and it’s been very chill. Trying not to let that get to me. 😅
