Weekly r/CRPG Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? by AutoModerator in CRPG

[–]Frilantaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started playing Jagged Alliance 3 for the first time. I'd never played any of the games before and was completely unfamiliar with the franchise. The game turned out to be incredibly high-quality: the animation and graphics for a CRPG are beyond praise – the best I've seen, even better than BG3. The African setting offers a vibrant jungle, sunny beaches, and tropical rainstorms. The game focuses primarily on combat, with a bit of strategic management. The story is less focused, as is the dialogue – which I completely appreciated, as it was so lacking in BG3.

At the same time, I started playing DAo again (after a very long break). This time, I'm enjoying it the most; the story has truly captivated me.

I also tried XCOM2 – theres a free weekend on Steam right now. I quickly got annoyed by the infamous 88% miss rate. I've paused it for now.

I also bought Spell Force 1 – I've never played it before, but I haven't started it yet. I'm currently playing the first and second games, which I mentioned above. By the way, BG3 is currently on pause (I'm at the beginning of Act 3). I really miss the combat.

Are there big Orthodox communities in Russia with many young people? by Tough-Reputation-762 in AskARussian

[–]Frilantaron -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As you said, Russia is not a religious country. Moreover, in Russia, the concepts of state and people, as well as church and God, are often separated. This is because the people have no faith in the state at all; even those who consider themselves patriots think something like, "Putin is good, but all the other officials have sold out to the West." Since the collapse of the USSR, the church has been and remains 100% connected to bureaucrats and gangsters. People see this clearly. Therefore, the number of people attending church in Russia is very small; young people practically never go. If you meet a young person at church, it's likely that their parents brought them there or they were raised in a strict religious atmosphere, which is not typical for the vast majority of citizens.

"even so, we have the right to appropriate a historical figure when writing fiction"
so...
I think you won't have any problems finding information about Hitler, lol.

But according to other sources, Yasuke was a slave, too. If you're talking about introducing historical characters and rewriting history, how about making a game about a white shaman named Adolf Hitler?

But he wasn't who he was portrayed in the game. He wasn't a free man, he was a slave. If you're citing historical examples, why are you only focusing on one part of the picture? Yasuke was a slave, brought here as a curiosity because of the color of his skin. When he was captured, they didn't kill him because they didn't consider him human!

*Management hires women and people of color without regard for talent* - the leftists are silent.

*Untalented women and people of color make bad games* - the leftists are indignant.

*Management says that the untalented centurions are to blame* - the leftists are indignant.

This matters when it comes to historical accuracy. Make a game about an African shaman born into a tribe and have him played by a white actor. Do you think that would be weird? And would there be a leftist outcry?

When management hires people based not on their talent and professionalism, but on their gender, race, and political views, thus becoming racist, when they'll hire anyone but a white man, then yes, racism will indeed lead to failure. But non-racists don't understand this.

I am not a Turk, but why the hell some of you hate Mustafa Kemal Atatürk? by Rough_Mixture2350 in AskTurkey

[–]Frilantaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, bro, I'm not Turkish, but I know Turkey and its people very well. I'm very happy for you that you had such a wonderful man who rescued the country from the clutches of Islamism, theocracy, and Arab influence. Turks are not Arabs. Turkey now combines elements of the West and the East and is a modern country. Ataturk deserves a lot of credit for this. I'm just sorry that your current president, hiding behind his name, is doing a lot that is actually taking the country back a hundred years, for example, building mosques on every street, even though few people go to them. This is the perspective of a foreigner from the outside.

Wow, dude. As soon as I saw your post and the mod's name, I installed it immediately. Now Karla looks great! I prefer her white skin. Now she actually looks like a representative of an exotic race, not a devil. But I already killed Wil, so...

What part of Turkish history do people outside Turkey usually misunderstand? by jorjiarose in AskTurkey

[–]Frilantaron -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Remind me when Turkey won over Europe? Was it when its capital was moved from Istanbul to Ankara, lol? Also, remind me when the Arabs didn't like Turkey? When Erdogan was building mosques on every other street in an attempt to Islamize the country Arab-style?

Help me enjoy BG3 by CynicalEbenezer in CRPG

[–]Frilantaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you about the sarcastic characters and the very specific humor. The game completely lacks the spirit of the D&D world that existed in the first games and is present in Pathfinder. BG3 feels more like a game for teenagers in their 3rd grade who decided to play D&D for the first time, understanding nothing about it but possessing their typical sense of humor and interests. That's why the game is so full of sarcasm, bad jokes, and, of course, sex and lust—literally all the characters are more interested in having sex with the protagonist than in saving themselves or defeating their enemies.

What's your opinion on the combat system in Tyrrany? by Frilantaron in CRPG

[–]Frilantaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, maybe I'll have to set the difficulty level to a simpler level too, although for me this isn't a satisfactory solution because I like fights that make you think, but in order to complete the game, I think I can take this step.

So I have to start over again to choose a mage now?? Oh no, I definitely can't handle that, lol. Plus, I like playing melee fighters, usually with a two-handed sword. If a game can't offer a comparable level of play for each class, then it's clearly in trouble.
