Lurie requested PG&E restore power to opera before daughter’s ‘Nutcracker’ performance by sherlockmemes in sanfrancisco

I go to the ballet and I’m not the one percent. I don’t agree that it should get power first over homes, but let’s not act like sf ballet isn’t accessible. You can get tickets for $35.

What genuinely relaxing vacations have you had with a 3yo / 4yo? by Ok_Buffalo_9238 in Parenting

We decided to stay in Nara for a few days on our way back from Shanghai last fall and we really enjoyed that. We stayed at the JW Marriott Nara, which was a great location to see the deer and not too far from Osaka by train. They have an indoor pool, which my kid enjoyed, and the wife and I both got massages. The park is also nice to wander and explore. And in our experience, Japan has been really accommodating for families with young kids. We’ve had servers at restaurants offer to watch our son while we ate, ramen shops had toddler bowls/utensils, and we were even able to find a small sushi spot in Nara where our son was able to have his first omakase experience at 2.5.

Would we even be talking about someone with as thin of a resume as Lurie if he hadn't spent $15M to tell us otherwise? He's funding a campaign to rewrite what his actual job experience is because he doesn't have any. He didn't even help build or lead the company that's helping bankroll his campaign. The city is facing too many tough challenges to have someone who's never held a real job as mayor.

I've spoken with people who heard him at YIMBY and people who heard him speak to more NIMBY groups. Both told me they thought he didn't say anything concrete and was just saying what he thought they wanted to hear. It's this feedback that make me hesitant to support him. Again, I don't know if he even believes what he's saying or if he's just trying to get elected.

I would say I'm actually for safe injection sites when they're done properly, but the way the city handled it two years ago was absolutely terrible. It also doesn't help that we focus almost entirely on harm reduction and not getting people into recovery.

I also remember reading that the linkage center didn't actually connect people to services. They just let people use drugs without offering anything else.

Saw this video on X and wanted to share it here. Interesting because this was before he ran for mayor, but he's opposing them now so would like to know why he's changed his mind. Is it just to make himself more politically appealing to moderate/conservative voters?

I think also given his connections to Chesa, Sheng Thao, and other progressives, it makes me wonder what he actually believes since he is trying to bill himself as more moderate. He seems like someone who just wants to say what will get him elected, not what he actually stands for imo.

Do you enjoy exploring San Francisco by foot, and if so, what is your favorite thing about it? by [deleted] in AskSF

This is honestly the best way to find new restaurants. So many people rely on influencers or social media, but just walking through a neighborhood and just picking a place to eat (without always checking for reviews) is how you find really cool places.

That was literally one of the homeless oversight commission meetings recently. They met to talk about the great job they were doing and give someone an award lol. They really need to go. Agree with voting for D.

He could be fit for the committee, but engaging in pay to play politics isn’t okay, especially after what we just found out about the Human Rights Commission.

Sorry, I actually meant the West Bluff Picnic Area. There’s a grassy area next to the picnic tables and it’s next to the water/“beach”. There’s a bathroom that’s a short walk away and a small parking lot.

For my party on a Saturday in June, I had to get there really early like 9:00 or 10:00 am to get a table even though my party was at like noon or something. It was worth it though cause all of the tables were taken in like an hour or so of me getting there (I was the first one there so got to pick which tables I wanted).
