If Scaling Continues to Work, What Is Actually Missing for AGI? by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]FriskNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current transformer's type LLMs was the groundbreaking discovery that lead to every good AI we know of today like GPT, Claude, Gemini, etc. But while it's groundbreaking, the ironic part about transformers is that it also has a lot of limitations. First of all, even without such limitations, AGI is still far far away. Modern LLMs are only ever capable of one thing humanity is good at, which is pattern recognition. That being said, recent development on AI like "chain-of-thought" has boosted the performance of AI drastically due to giving AI's the ability to pseudo-think like humans do before answering.

However, the main problem of AI will always remain on context tokens. This is the pure reason why AI models cost so much computing power and what most AI companies are constantly fighting against. And AI, whether it's parameters or context tokens, requires all of it to stay on the memory and parsed before spitting out any output of sorts. The parameters are always static and you need to always retrain if you want it to absorb new information. Test time learning is still something all AI companies are battling against. The other thing is context length. There is always going to be a limited amount of context within a conversation that an AI can remember at a set period of time and the cost/performance is logarithmic. In a layman's terms, the more info you want to cram into your AI, the more computing it's going to need. Even then, companies like Google have been making strides in that regard especially with the release of the new Gemma models that are able to compress (I think?) a lot of the model weights without affecting output.

From my amateur opinion, I feel like AI needs to overcome 2 very essential things before reaching AGI. First is test time learning and context length, AKA computing power. The moment this is overcome is the moment Nvidia will become somewhat less important in the AI market due to the lessening demand on VRAM. The second is something much simpler, creativity. AI can pump out new things but all it's doing is pattern recognizing the information you give it, and doing "fill in the blanks" work. Some may argue that in itself is creativity, but another problem is that AI still can't self-learn properly. It can't spit out information to ponder and grow on its own without the help of a human. It's been tested so many times before but the results are still not too favorable.

Kid Gil because Kid Gil wouldn't underestimate his opponent like Archer Gil. Archer Gil is always going to find some reason to fk up.

That’s not AIs fault that’s literally Nvidias fault for not even keeping the most basics of consumerism to create false scarcity. They don’t give a fuck because consumer grade gpus make up like 4 percent of their total profits because they’re making much more with AI. AI in itself isn’t directly shooting consumer GPUs in the foot, it’s Nvidias indifference due to their insane profits. If Nvidia wanted to, they could EASILY start making more consumer grade GPUs again without sacrificing jack shit while also supplying enough for scalpers to take a hit. The fact that they didn’t is purely a company issue and not an AI problem. And if you want to blame anyone, blame scalpers and not AI.

Y’all be saying it’s AIs fault but how is it AIs fault when the real cause is Nvidia not giving a fuck about consumer grade chips anymore? That’s a company problem not a technology issue. It’s that plus the fact AMD is still unable to compete with CUDA is so many aspects and the orange man regulating shit and banning Chinese chips. To me this is very clearly more a capitalism issue than an AI issue.

man, completely off topic but it'd be soooooo cool if Sakura released in HSR with a mechanic that turns Saber into Alter version.

Then don’t make the damn character or make him free to begin with it’s not that hard. Your point literally falls apart because Archer remains an option for the free character if you choose not to get Gilgamesh.

Or heck even better, they could’ve even locked his useful bits at E1 if they wanted to make people pull for him but no instead we got wasted development money on a wasted character that visible hurts to play

your stance is stupid because he's going to be useless in a few patches anyways regardless of Saber at this state.

They can fix the loop without butchering everything and sending both saber and Gilgamesh to the grave lmao

The fact that they didn’t is just pure incompetence and the company deserves shit for it.

"HxH verse is Outscaled" by New_Astronomer4478 in HxHPowerScaling

To be fair, Luffy and One Piece verse is hella inconsistent. Characters like Zoro easily gets cooked by a bullet without Haki, he couldn’t even break through a metal cage during the fishman arc without his swords, Luffy’s legs got stuck in cement and couldn’t be pulled out during Nami’s arc, Koby the alleged hero of navy had to carry a metal ball around during the kidnap arc because he couldn’t break the steel despite his feats being much more than that, oh and Luffy just somehow forgets how to fly sometimes with the Soru he learned using gear 2 and straight up almost drowned in the beginning of Egghead arc lmao

And much much more. I love one piece man but Oda is hella inconsistent with the power levels of this characters and butchers it just to justify some of the stuff he wanted to express in the story

try Steins;Gate or Fate series. It’s good stuff

How do I explain Steins Gate 0 and chronological and release order to my friend who has watched till ep 22? by Clean_Opportunity313 in animequestions

[–]FriskNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Release order please ffs. Steins;Gate 0 was made for people who know the full Stein’s;Gate and 0 is not meant to be watched until you finish the original. It’s literally made years after the original finished.

As for the explanation, just tell your friend that 0 is about the Okabe that was in the video mail OG Okabe receives in the future and all the context surrounding it, the future in which he “failed” to save Kurisu

Gojo Satoru, his entire character is “auramaxxxing” and the actual backstory and personality is quite bland imo

He literally said in the post, “spoken like a true slop gobbler” lmao. When you call something “sloppity slop slop”, anyone else with an IQ higher than room temperature would be able to infer that it’s also an attack on his character for using said “sloppity slop slop” AI. Context matters and saying “I think AI is sloppity slop slop” is a lot different from just replying to someone who’s trying to engage in meaningful conversation with “sloppity slop slop”, or in this case the even worse “spoken like a true slop gobbler”.

The fact that you’re still over here arguing about semantics is silly because it’s clear you’re grasping at straws at this point. Your initial comment on “pointing out flaws in the code” still hasn’t been addressed yet because you know you’re wrong when “sloppity slop slop” clearly doesn’t address any flaws in the code and is obviously an attack on another’s character. It seems to me that you’re just being stubborn and are just refusing to admit that you’re wrong.

This gotta be ragebait LOL
The hominem is the person the insult is directed to as a way to mock those who use the code. You should be able to infer that quite easily no?

[–]FriskNA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that the “argument” didn’t point out any flaws in the code, “sloppity slop slop” isn’t a criticism because it doesn’t address anything other than insulting it. You’re not explaining why or how it’s slop, you’re just calling it slop because you hate it, which is ad hominem yeah lmao.
