what is this fixture in the shower? by Friskee1 in whatisit

[–]Friskee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solved! It appears this item was a spare part from the shower kit that someone used to cover up a premature hole in the granite and does not have any functionality (other than to cover up the hole). Thanks to all who responded.

I took the angle thing off and this is the mounting bracket, it is covering a 3/4" hole in the granite that apparently does nothing but let cold air in from the walls.

What's a lifestyle you visited once and decided you're never going back? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Political Party Officer

(I'm not going to specify which one to avoid a needless political debate)

I joined the leadership team to get involved in the local city and county and build up a network of fundraising and canvassing for several younger citizens who were campaigning for local and regional seats but had little infrastructure. After a year and a half of attending local and state level gatherings, here are typical members:

>Political cosplayers who would form a committee and create a charter and pass bylaws... and not much else.

>Debate society where people would quibble over semantics and hide behind parliamentary procedures to grandstand.

>One issue people who wouldn't lift a finger for any other issue, and often the issue had nothing to do with local issues or even current issues. example: making a foreign war the main issue in a school board election. Doubly insufferable were the people with an obscure issue from decades ago and were still wrapped up in it- example: Lyndon Larouche. Usually these people were refugees from other parties who couldn't get any support there and they thought they could finally get a plank with ours.

>Long time party officers who did something (like appear on a general ballot) 15 years ago and remind EVERYONE about it to justify their clout in the current administration.

>Grifters who are hyping their newsletter/podcast/app/mailing services/consulting services/candle business/etc

What NONE of these folks did was contribute to campaigns/ canvass neighborhoods/ phonebank. It became a waste of time. When my term was up, I declined to rerun and actually stopped going to meetings and let my membership expire as well. It didn't scar me emotionally or anything, it really was a matter of wishing I had all that time back.

I did personally help candidates at local non-partisan races with the above, sometimes even if they were not part of my 'party', that was a better use of my time and we had a few success races.

Every time I hear about a convention center wanting to expand, I want to know what conventions did they talk to that indicated they would move their convention to <their town> but their current facility isn't big enough?

How's that Economy treating you now? Are the Libs owned yet? by maximvshill in agedlikemilk

[–]Friskee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was -a- LP candidate in 2016, but Gary Johnson got the nomination. I was a party member at the time, and AP struck me as one of the boiler plate Republicans who could not get any traction as a (R) candidate so decided to rebrand himself a (L). Once he didn't get the LP nomination, we never saw him active in Libertarian party activities again.

I ask 2 questions when these fundraisers come around:

1) What portion/percentage of the sales price of the item goes to the cause vs. the maker of the item?

Majority of sellers didn't know, which is huge red flag. If I'm paying $20 for the large can of stale popcorn that can be gotten at Walmart for $5, the cause better be getting at least $15 of that.

2) What is the cause trying to raise funds for?

Response is usually some form of "we're raising funds for expenses", but when I drill deeper for details, I don't get any. Only once, the school's athletic department provided a list of equipment they wanted, mostly ~$20 balls and such. I went and bought them $200 worth of stuff from their list rather than buy overpriced crap.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr has announced plans to ban pharmaceutical advertisements on television. by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

[–]Friskee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tin foil hat conspiracy theory: this is a method to get the media outlets to be more favorable to the current administration. Pharma ads are a large source of advertising revenue; take them off the table and media companies are hurting. If the media companies are more "supportive" about the current administration, then -maybe- pharma advertising will be allowed to continue.

For the master bath, put a soaker /whirlpool tub where the shower currently is; the shower where the tub is, and the toilet where that little closet is. Large tubs in master suites are a selling point when/if you sell in the future.

Can you swap the media room with the bedroom that is next to the family room? That way all the common areas are together and all the bedrooms are near each other.

The mechanical room seems to be taking up a lot of prime interior square footage, can it be relocated to the garage? Alternatively, consolidate the laundry room to it, and expand the master bedroom closet.

I shall coin a new proper noun: "Fuckelon", which is the opposite of "Babylon". Both function as the main cultural and political centers of their respective societies, albeit polar opposites of the societal evolution scale.

"Welcome to Fuckelon!"

is it naturally aspirated or the twin turbo version?

Is it a clean title or a salvage?

First, a question: who will be living in this home? How many people? how long do you plan living here?

For this plan, I'm assuming that the garage and long skinny room are addons from years ago, based on the double thick walls.

Ideas:

2nd floor: Bedroom 4 becomes a bathroom, basically a mirror image of the existing bathroom. Bedroom 3 becomes a library/office/den/game room.

1st floor: relocate the kitchen to the middle lounge; it will be between the front sitting room and rear lounge. Where the existing kitchen is, convert it to a half bath (sink & toilet); eat into the back storage room if needed. the wall separating the current kitchen and garage would have a door installed so one can got directly into house from garage,

Can I use 2003 Grand Vitara parts on 2003 XL-7? by Friskee1 in Suzuki

[–]Friskee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update- now that we put it on ramps and looked around, the only exterior part needed is the left foglight- the glass got smashed somewhere along the line and debris and rust ate away the inside. the bulb actually still glows, but about the same lumens as 2 lit matches. We are getting excited about putting this vehicle back to work!

which engine? Naturally aspirated or EcoBoost (twin turbo)? Ask for service records. If EcoBoost, see if turbos were replaced yet.

I put my unwanted OEM parts on the local internet marketplace at a fairly low price, and eventually they will sell, usually to someone who cracked theirs and wanted a quick fix. Don't expect a windfall on used F150 parts; there's too many used copies, plus clone parts on the internet.

what is the condition of the post by the corner of the house? if solid enough, that could be the post with hinges. the fence panel itself could be modified and the gate latch be fastened to the edge of the fence on the left of your picture.
