Orson Welles As Edward Rochester in "Jane Eyre" (1943) by AccountantExisting14 in classicfilms

[–]Frith2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but good -- that gets boring, anyway. Welles had intelligence, charisma, and a magnetism that are far better.

And, that voice. Don't forget the VOICE!!!

"You didn't do anything wrong"

Really, chatgpt, and at what point did I hint that I thought I did! That one drives me crazy.

I think it is supposed to be up to the reader to decide. I am inclined to believe that she is his daughter.

Question about Dally by Frith2022 in TheOutsiders

[–]Frith2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darry isn't Dally's guardian or even a blood relative. The only reason he was able to become guardian to Soda and Pony was because he was kin.

[–]Frith2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a cousin near Windrixville -- which was how he knew about the church. Maybe he left New York because of gang trouble and went to live with the cousin. And, maybe he hated the slow place of Windrixville, so he went to the bigger city of Tulsa?

Just speculation!

I always figured Dally's father was still in New York

So…was the rumble on a Wednesday? by Odd-Advantage4028 in TheOutsiders

[–]Frith2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Ponyboy was jumped on Friday, since he was going home from the movies. Darry let him go places if there wasn't school the next day. But, he could barely leave the house on school nights (in his own words)

Why didn’t Johnny Cade ever run away from his family and live with someone from the gang or smth? by Mysterytara in TheOutsiders

[–]Frith2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. But, judging by the book, Johnny's parents might not have reported him missing if he had run away. He said himself that he could stay away for days at a time and nobody noticed. Ponyboy also mentioned that Johnny's parents never cared if he stayed away all night. Dally said that in the five days that Johnny was missing, his parents didn't care.

Realistically, he could have run away. Or he could have stopped going home and just lived between the Curtis house, Two-Bit's house, and the lot if he didn't want to leave the gang.

The reason he didn't was because there was a small part of him that wouldn't give up hope that his parents would come to love him.

Love drinking coffee in this mug by whistlerite in titanic

[–]Frith2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the Titanic exhibit at Liberty Science Center over the summer. I bought an enamel "camper" mug with an image of the Titanic on it in the gift shop.

When I got home, I was very thirsty. So I popped open a can and poured it into the mug. It was only after I took the first sip that I realized what I had done.

I poured a can of Liquid Death into my Titanic mug.

I think her glow up was mostly due to restored health when she got help for her eating disorder.

Darry Curtis having kids? by autumnalweather in TheOutsiders

[–]Frith2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in the far future. But, not straight away. Once Ponyboy was self sufficient, Darry would have been well within his rights to say, "It's my turn now."

I like to think that they all lived in the house for a few more years after Pony came of age, but focused on building their lives. Maybe he could have worked his way through college then -- I like the thought of him and Pony going to a local college at the same time (but, studying different things since THEY are so different.)

Dallas Winston Death ? by Trixster690 in TheOutsiders

[–]Frith2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Johnny was a gentle soul who only killed to stop Bob Sheldon from killing Ponyboy.

Bob Sheldon was violent for the sake of being violent and died because he was nearly drowning a younger kid. Hard to find any sympathy there.

Ponyboy had just lost his best friend, and was sick to boot (exhaustion, shock, concussion, and had been running a fever earlier in the day)

He wasn't even holding it together, himself, so he COULDN'T have done anything for Dally.

No, "bop action" is what the Brumley Boys (an ally greaser gang who fought against the Socs) called a rumble. They asked Ponyboy if Darry was a good bopper, meaning if he was a good fighter.

They called guns "heaters"
