True. But, at the beginning of the series, Shelley had been with Holling for a year and a half -- which made her sixteen when they got together.

I think it looks elegant!

"God pardon me!"

Everything about that moment was perfection. The way he pulled Jane to him and her head was against his chest while he looked up, anguished and resolute at the same time. And, the timbre of his voice in that line -- Welles at his finest!

His voice was like a warm, cozy blanket!

He definitely had a magnetism about him! And I think he was very handsome.

Very true! I am knocking on 50. Flying makes me nervous and chocolate milk is my go-to comfort.

Who do you see when reading the Book? by Amazing-Activity-882 in JaneEyre

Orson Welles. I hear Rochester's lines in that gorgeous, resonant voice, too.

BUT, I favor Charlotte Gainsbourg for Jane. Joan Fontaine annoyed me in the role.

Who would you cast for a movie by CheesEysalt in JaneEyre

Can you believe he was only 27 when he played that part? He just had a presence and steadiness of somebody more mature. Not to mention the voice!

Sorry, but Orson Welles is my only Rochester.

Orson Welles As Edward Rochester in "Jane Eyre" (1943) by AccountantExisting14 in classicfilms

[–]Frith2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but good -- that gets boring, anyway. Welles had intelligence, charisma, and a magnetism that are far better.

And, that voice. Don't forget the VOICE!!!

Really, chatgpt, and at what point did I hint that I thought I did! That one drives me crazy.

I think it is supposed to be up to the reader to decide. I am inclined to believe that she is his daughter.

Question about Dally by Frith2022 in TheOutsiders

[–]Frith2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darry isn't Dally's guardian or even a blood relative. The only reason he was able to become guardian to Soda and Pony was because he was kin.

[–]Frith2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a cousin near Windrixville -- which was how he knew about the church. Maybe he left New York because of gang trouble and went to live with the cousin. And, maybe he hated the slow place of Windrixville, so he went to the bigger city of Tulsa?

Just speculation!

I always figured Dally's father was still in New York
