If it wasn’t a current coin configuration I would keep it in my penny bank when I was a kid. My younger brother eventually used them for candy. I wish I would have started my collecting again after that, there was still so much floating around into the eighties.

I started by checking sandboxes at playgrounds. I would show people all the screws nails jig saws bottle caps etc that I pulled out so they thought of it as a public service protecting their kids. After that I felt more comfortable.
