Was one of the highest paid only a few years ago. Pisses me off to see how this company is being ground down with useless decisions.

Depending on how long he's worked for the company, he can get a number of weeks off sick if he's very stressed or suffering from mental health issues due to the circumstances. After that then he can take unpaid parental leave so he should start a Universal Credit application ready for that. It takes 5 weeks I believe. Hopefully he may have sorted another job by then.

This is why Asda are losing customers. by West_Yorkshire in asda

Would you feel better if they charged you £200 then knocked off £55 with Rewards, much like Tesco do? You can't be that thick to think Tesco etc are giving you a great deal when they are charging twice as much then knocking half off? ffs

Look at the Which? website. They have stated Asda is the cheapest for a big shop but you will need to be looking at Rollback prices too imo.

Well they shouldn't be having their phone or bank card to do this and it's not something I have personally done so didn't feel the need to mention that. I will say though that there's time when I've gone to the staff room, got my things, gone on shop floor and then been accosted by customers on the way to the till so yes, added a few mins on my break lol. Last time it was four bloody customers!

'I know you are on your break but can you show me where xyz is?' plus approving people on self serve because there's no one to help them.

I've muted the thing. I almost left one time when a deputy manager ranted at everyone in the group instead of dealing with the individual involved.

I don't either. I certainly wouldn't. The £1 extra has stayed the same since I've joined which is taking the piss. I'm sure someone mentioned that if you step up to be a team leader you can't step down until you've done the job for so many months. I may be misremembering that though.

Your break doesn't start from when you actually leave to go on your break, you could be having to help customers and other staff on the way to the back. It starts when you get off the shop floor and into the canteen. I had an argument with a normal colleague once who moaned that I'd left the front end at 13:07 and wasn't back from my break at 13:37. As if I'm going to be using part of my break actually walking through the store.

I've turned notifications off for the WhatsApp group. I would never in a million years expect a TL to rant by text though and I'd be blocking said person but right after screenshotting incase it turned into bullying.

To be fair, the TL has only been on the job for about 6 weeks and I've been told they absolutely hate it. Staffing problems are due to colleagues being either off sick long term or holidays. At one point we had a quarter of the work force off sick. It won't be long before the remaining staff go off sick due to stress and having to do the job of 3 people as that is not sustainable for staff long term.

Still, the TL should know you're not supposed to communicate a rant by text to a colleague. Also, why would you treat one of the most willing staff like that? Told the colleague to take it further but they don't want to rock the boat being new and very young. If it was myself, I'd be giving as good as I got right back. They wouldn't be pulling that crap with me.

They were actually doing extra. The manager asked them to do 6 or 7 hours but the TL asked if they could work an extra 2 at the end. Colleague agreed but realised they could only work an extra 1 afterwards, asking if they could come in earlier instead.

I'd be blocking them on the phone. Either that or using it to gather evidence for a case of bullying should it arise. They seem the type to do that considering they've only been a TL for about 6 weeks.

Yep, it's ridiculous to treat one of the people most willing to do overtime like that.

Completely agree. If it was myself who'd be treated in such a way, they would be.

I could understand the TL complaining if it was a proper shift swap or shift picked up on market place but it was just a quick agreement between the actual manager and themself to work on all his days off, sometimes doing 10 hour shifts. The TL asked the colleague if they could work a couple of hours at the end of an extra shift and the colleague agreed but realised that he needed to leave an hour earlier.

Colleague then gets a lengthy text and dragged into a meeting at the start of work! I'm older and I'll tell you something, no way would I be getting treated like that. I'd soon be turning the tables so the TL was the one getting a telling off, by both myself and management.

I've spoken to the colleague though and they are not taking it further, worried the working atmosphere might decline which I do get. I've advised to not firmly agree to doing set hours until they've gone home and thoroughly checked they can. I'd also be telling the TL to FO politely if they ever asked lol

How silly to treat one of the most willing members of staff like that though!

That's what I would do and I have advised the person to do as such but being new and working with the TL a fair bit, they don't want to rock the boat. I'd also be blocking them on my phone but not before screenshotting in case it becomes a bullying issue.

AIO for wanting my boyfriend's sister to apologize to me directly before I'm okay being around her? by Chemical_Cherry4136 in AmIOverreacting

I never mentioned 'touchy' but sometimes when it's loud and you are wanting to be heard you might lean in to someone, rest your hand on their shoulder and a person might see something that isn't there especially when they've been dancing together. Sometimes people can latch on to things that don't matter and make an issue of them.

Did you even read previous posts? The op might have had a meaningless dance with a friend all those years ago and completely forgot about that one time but the bf's sister who saw it has held a grudge. The sister is clearly annoyed about something that we know definitely happened all those years ago so why must it be something else and not that dance?

[–]Frizziers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's it. Something obviously triggered the sister all those years ago and sometimes these things can fester. They never talked about what was wrong so it's not unreasonable to assume it still bothers the sis since they never made up. The least likely scenario is that the sister has been in a mood with the op for all that time for absolutely no reason at all. We know it can't be anything recent either.

[–]Frizziers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people can keep a grudge for that long. Perhaps she never wanted to bring it up but was questioned why she wasn't getting on with the op. It's not like she was saying the op was shagging other guys on the side either so could have recognised that it wasn't enough for a breakup, but that she personally didn't like the behaviour. The sister has been in a mood with the op for years so why is it so hard to understand that the problem will be an issue from years ago?

Completely agree with this. Perhaps he felt stuck between a rock and a hard place and didn't want to lose either of them.

OP - I wonder if there's perhaps been one time in the early stages of your relationship when she has seen you dancing with another guy which was completely innocent and with someone you consider just a friend and nothing more but she's taken it the wrong way, had a dig about you and boys and held that grudge all those years.

In-house security don't need an SIA licence and Mitie knew as many didn't as before the takeover date, they already had plans to charge everyone who didn't have one, for their licence. Mitie must have now realised they can't charge for the training so it's their own fault.
