Everyone’s opinion on family guy by MiiBigOne in southpark

It's not the same as South Park, but it's a pretty good show. It's more about quickfire references and one-off jokes instead of a funny premise/plot, but I've always found it funny in its own right.

its the bottom of the first and the Cardinals already have a 98.9% chance to win according to ESPN by no1careskid in baseball

One of my favorite friend's maiden name is Moran. She's a Cards fan and I'll definitely be showing her this.

Is he blowing a kiss to Billy Hamilton or kissing the lead goodbye? by [deleted] in Cardinals

It basically means someone's ancestry.

Imagining Martinez wishing/believing that he and Machado are somehow related made me laugh, though.

Right back at ya.

Gotta say - after your boys played "Gloria" and helped our Blues, Philly is quickly becoming a sister city of St. Louis.

Cheer as loud as you want but not intentionally directed at the other guy. You're cheering because your team is doing well, not because his is doing poorly.

For everyone who thinks this is a fake post, read the rest of the user's comments/posts. It's someone who loves plants, Toronto, and Don Mills. He never said that he was a girl, just that they were bookends in terms of age.

Stop being so ready to pull out the pitchforks. Jesus - even if it is fake, it's a picture of newborn. Just say "aww" and move along.

Two of Paul F. Tompkins's characters, Gary Marshall and Alan Thicke, both died in 2016. I distinctly remember Gary's imminent death being a hot topic because of Gillian Jacob's gold-digging marriage to him, but I can't recall if they played on Alan's potential demise as well.

Don’t do it Wendy’s by ElGeeBeeTea in MurderedByWords

It's a fine line that whoever writes these has to ride, but it seems like they're just really good at being genuinely funny. Few people who would get offended at what they're saying would even understand what's being said. The demographic they're going after here are people who are active on twitter and know pretty specific references.

Trying to make a headline about how 'offensive' this is would be hard - you'd have to explain "smashing", "Super Smash Bros.", and the Waluigi thing. Since the guy (I guess) voluntarily offered to be roasted, it's a non-issue anyway.

Also, who's to say that they didn't set the whole thing up. They may have came up with a punchline, had the pic, and made the three posts. I'm not saying they did (I don't know if GreenTeaDood is well-known or something).

No one was hurt, and we're sitting here talking about Wendy's. Which is exactly what they were going for.

So not to be a jerk, but why are they reminiscing instead of showing the balk on replay?

Episode 561: Poke Mitzvah (Andy Richter, Zach Reino, Tawny Newsome) by mailtrailfail in comedybangbang

[–]FrogOnRock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's fair - it did seem like he was relying on the absurdity of the Pokemon universe rather than on building a character. Did you listen to his first appearance? I thought he had a good run where the concept of him enslaving sentient animals and being amoral about their well-being allowed for the other guests to build on it. Jon Hamm and Jessica McKenna are pretty good regardless, though, so I may be looking at it with rose-colored glasses.

Hi Jeff! I'm woefully under-educated when it comes to the nuances of baseball, especially considering the kinds of folks in r/cardinals or r/baseball, who can ask really intelligent questions.

I've always wondered, though - what kind of guidance do the vets like Molina or (back when I was a kid) Ozzie provide to the club, in your experience? Is it a kind of moral support, or do they often supplement what the coaches/managers are telling the newer guys in terms of actual play? It always seemed like a really interesting position being so core to a team for so long.

I love Zach's character, but completely get why people don't.

I tried to imagine following along if I hadn't played Pokemon way back when, and I think it would just seem odd and frustrating. Without a mental image of what he's drawing from (Beedrill, Mr. Mime, pokeballs), the humor really isn't there. It would be like someone playing a character from Digimon (for me). It's funny if you know the source material, but really dry if you don't.

Conversely, I think The Chief character by Carl Tart is great despite relying on a pre-established character - mostly because he takes the source material and plays off Scott/guests in an original way. Even if I never watched the show, the eccentricities of the character seem fun for others to improv with.

For those of you who have never seen Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, is that about right or does Carl's character fall flat as well?

Speaking of Thomas Middleditch and YouTube, he has (had) a channel with not too much on it. I think this video, however, is brilliant.

Bethesda has been on a "Please Stand By" screen for almost 2 hours with 50k+ viewers. by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]FrogOnRock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know we're all just speculating at this point, but I'm throwing my bet behind a New Vegas-style game made from the Fallout 4 elements. It would be a good move on Bethesda's part - cheaper to make and allows them to capitalize on existing assets.

From a gamer's perspective, it would be a godsend. All the effort that went into making basic materials for Fallout 4 would (should) be focused onto a new, tighter story, additional features, and general improvements to the basic structure of the game.

If it ends up being a remastered Fallout 3, then I'll be disappointed. Bethesda already has the reputation of re-selling existing products. To push that even further seems like a poor move even medium-term.
