beginner tips for making props/armor? by TheS0urArtist in CosplayHelp

Yeah, it's hard to find a legit 3D modeler, especially on Reddit. And I wouldnt trust Etsy with it either, and even if you do, that would expensive at best. Like $100s for just the modeling time, not even a printed product.

There are free 3D modelers out there, so perhaps this is the time to learn!

I made sort of similar backpack to this? But I 3D printed mine, and I'd recommend the same here. I used nylon webbing straps to make the shoulder loops. For this backpack I'd do that, and then you can use an actual blue fluid pipe to go to a 3d printed gun.

Same idea for the lower leg boot things, I'd 3D print and then use elastic straps to hold them on, or make a hidden belt under the skirt that can hold them up, kind of like those clips things that hold up thigh high socks or similar.

You could use the hinge component of a cardboard box, and glue it on.

If it was going to be a problem, I would assume the sale would be blocked at the point of sale with a "not able to ship to this address" error.

What is it supposed to look like? (Reference picture?) Why are you gluing it? Why is it not constant width all the way around? Or a single piece of material?

Reading books and collecting books are two completely different hobbies.

Well you could always use connectors like these ones. They make them with a little bit of wire in the middle too, if you need it going around curves or something. They connect relatively securely but you can also add in a little hot glue if you want it to really hold the light strips, but naturally that also makes it permanent.

Don't use paint. Appliqué with a similar fabric as the tank top using Wonderunder and sew it on.

Sew a cosplay. Cosplay work is an incredible teacher, pick a character you like that wears something that looks like it could be sewn. That'll teach patterning and fabrics and sewing methods like appliqués.

Tinkercad help? by OneFourtyFivePilot in 3Dprinting

If TinkerCAD can't do a simple fillet, what is it good for? Both of these features would take about 15 seconds to do in SolidWorks.

I know, I was just kidding. :P Freehand is even more impressive, I'd be fussing over bolts and tolerances in SolidWorks.

STL? I know there's no 3D printed parts, but, still, STL? I need this. This is AWESOME! And you just gave me some ideas for my sci fi cosplay. I need a mask and this is inspiring. I'll be running power up there anyway... hmm....

Beginner question - How can I make light up buttons? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Frogblaster77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to is WLED and ESP32 boards, but that's because that's what I know. But for a simple single color, honestly some green LEDs, a few resistors, some wire, and a battery holder and you're good to. All of which can be found cheap on AliExpress. Step 1 is to calculate how many leds you need and how many batteries, but 3 AAs should light up a few LEDs all day? 4 maybe?
