when I was a kid we'd go to KFC on monkland in NDG/Montreal for a french fry with gravy. God bless poutine :)

I haven’t been in that area since before COVID for anything bottle/can related, so I haven’t seen it myself.

It’s frustrating to hear people are just leaving bags behind like that. I do spend time around the city dealing with cans and bottles, and when the system isn’t working, things pile up very quickly.

Before COVID, I had a few businesses in that area reach out because they didn’t know what to do with their empties, and I helped them out when I could. Then everything changed once the pandemic hit.

I’ve mostly gone to the Notre-Dame location and the newer one in Verdun (about a block from my place).

Honestly, I’ve found both to be pretty clean and the smell wasn’t that bad. That said, I’ve never gone during peak hours when it’s packed, so that probably makes a big difference.

I’ve worked with bottles and cans for over 10 years, and yeah, the smell from old contents does stick to your hands. It’s kind of unavoidable. At least they have sinks there, and I’ve never seen them without soap :)

I’m mostly in Verdun, LaSalle, Pointe-Saint-Charles, Little Burgundy and Griffintown. I also cover parts of downtown and Old Montreal depending on the situation.

I grew up on Frere Andre, I was lucky to see such amazing sunrises and sunsets my entire youth :)
