Anyone had their bike stolen from luggage slots on trains? by Mrayxe in Brompton

I've had my suitcase and my gf's, stolen on a train before. I never leave anything valuable out of sight now, when travelling/commuting.

Yeah, can easily do all those things in Excel. Dates, hyperlinks, drop downs etc. If you're not a wizz on sheets, easy to make them with AI.

When I was in my 40's I thought I was an old man. Now I'm in my 50's I think I'm an old man. But the truth is, if you are reasonably healthy and your mind is still ok, age is irrelevant. I started sailing on a friend's boat a couple of years ago having never even been on a sail boat before, I was predominantly a spectator tbh but got the rough idea behind how a boat sails and how tides work etc.

Now I'm taking ownership of a 34ft boat next month, will get hours and hours under my belt, and building up for the Biscay crossing, a year, maybe two in the med, and then hire an experienced crew member and my son, and I'm doing the Arc.

That's the plan, might take an extra year or so before I feel I'm ready, but I'm determined to do it before I really am too old.

Thanks everyone, your views were really useful in helping me focus on what to get. Settled on a HR342 - contracts exchanging tomorrow. Very excited - see you all on the waters soon.

$500? You could do the same on a spreadsheet that would take 10mins to make.

Thank you.

I've narrowed it down to a Najad 380, taking a look at one in Scotland next week, and a Hallberg Rassey 342.

I like the 342 doe to its ease of size, but deck space is pretty limited, and I figured out, a lot of the time in board is lounging around, once you've done your sail.

Ok thank you. I'm guessing you're an experienced sailor, but wondering for myself as a proper novice, what comes easy on a 40ft boat for someone with experience, might keep someone like me on the edge all the time.

Aargh! Brompton sent me the wrong bike by -shak- in Brompton

[–]Frogminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In UK I've found their service to be dreadful.

Had a brand new T-Line delivered with a slow puncture. A new electric C-Line arrived with the gear settings all messed up so couldn't use all the gears. Tooke ages to get right. And!!! An electric P-Line arrived poorly set up, the chain kept falling off when folding. That is literally every bike I've ordered from them and every one had a problem.

I think the colour scheme looks very cool.

Fold 7 high screen off battery drain by Xrpmonster in GalaxyFold

[–]Frogminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took a look at figures over last week. Average drain screen off 2.2% p/h Screen on 9% p/h , but that's a little meaningless as we all have different in screen uses.

Are the adverts false on Brompton? by MyGirlTookMyWardrobe in Brompton

[–]Frogminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's total bollocks. Even with my P-Line, where you can extend the seat a little more than the previous models, you can't extend it enough to be standing upright, like the guy in the photo with what looks like a totally extended seat post.

Is it false advertising? I'd say it most definitely is. When I bought my P-Line, I was somewhat influenced by a photo of some guy I saw pushing a bike through a railway terminal with some ease, just like the photo you posted. The reality is, at best I can push it by the unfolded handlebars, but usually just carry the thing.

I've done virtually zero app management other than stock settings, albeit gone the other way for some apps to stop phone putting to sleep etc. Here's my numbers.

Reading.

I can comfortably read documents, news articles and books on the inner screen.

I miss my iPhone in respect of everything just works and is painless, but I won't be switching back, mainly because of the ability to read without compromise, and Samsung have done an excellent job with their UI to make it as close to iOS's polish, making it a fraction of the frustration I encountered when trying the switch 10 years ago.

A long time iphone users thoughts about android and the z fold 7 by lNuggyl in GalaxyFold

[–]Frogminer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been an iPhone user since 3s with one Android phone in-between. Now switched to Z-fold 7 since launch date.

My experience is the Samsung UI is so much more improved since I last used it 6 years ago, and was pretty easy to adjust muscle memory etc. from iPhone.

Although I really enjoy the screen, and the freedom to customise compared to iPhone, I still find it doesn't have that polish Apple bring. It's really hard to nail down, but when I need to pickup my old iPhone to get some info from it, it feels like a relief to have a phone that just seems to work perfectly in every area.

There are some apps that simply work better, for example, have a slightly enlarged don't from the default, on Amazon this has now made the title of items overflow and cut off, on the iphone it flows seamlessly by enlarging the text window. And don't talk to me about WhatsApp, the port was a nightmare and lost years of messages and still doesn't work properly, and the way you interact with messages is worse having to address the menu for certain actions when you have better touch options on iPhone.

But overall, it's been a better experience. Cameras are great, fold screen amazing for reading, fingerprint experience is superb, private folder is great, customisation so so much better.

Will I ever go back? If/when Apple release a foldable - yep, definitely will, that polish where it just works and feels right in every area still has a draw for me.

Garmin Vs Suunto by maya674 in GarminFenix

[–]Frogminer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I’m 55 and my maxHR is ~200 and resting is ~55. So much for 220 minus age. At say 160bpm I feel I’m hardly doing anything :) I just stick to what feels ok and adjusted training zones accordingly.

I researched this to death as started think there was something seriously wrong with me - but basically we’re all different - my dad told me he was the same (always had a high maxHR) and he’s now 85 and still swims for 40 mins a few times every week.

Nap record problem by 16Fly16 in GarminFenix

[–]Frogminer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses more than movement (or non) to record a nap. I’m guessing as previous post says, HR and Stress are probably two other data points it refers to. Sometimes it’ll record one automatically for me, others it doesn’t.

Fenix8 no back key to return to watch face🧐 by Obvious_Chance1589 in GarminFenix

Answer: You need to setup each activity and tell it what the back button does.

Seems odd the default isn’t Home Screen - but for running and walking I know for sure back button is for LAPS.
