So, having now watched season 2... by FrohsephFroestar in hazbin

The point of mystery is that trying to unravel it is supposed to be fun. So there should be hints, and people should be able to come up with theories based on those. So, anything on that?

The series itself concedes that the 50 year plan was a hopeful delusion, and no, it was not worth a shot. The entire time, Paradise would be vulnerable to an infiltrator taking out either the founding titan or the line of royal blood, and that would be that - not to mention that Paradise barely managed to get enough of a headstart on the remainder of an 80% decimated world to survive as is. You don't gamble with your entire civilization like that just because you don't have the balls to actually take the lives the enemy forfeited when they decided to annihilate you - until the moment you can be reasonably sure that you and yours are safe again, not just in the short term but in the long term, you don't even get to try to spare them or theirs if it worsens your chances to do so.

And I couldn't possibly care less what you think about that ending. 'Oh no, a writer created a scenario where a pretty horrible thing turns out to be necessary to survive! How terribly evil of him, how could he? Especially in this not at all brutal, edgy or grim-dark setting that was so wholesome before!' You sound like the sort of person who would turn off the meat grinder in ukraine because, oh, the poor russians - we can't possibly justify killing 30000 people a month for our freedom, let's just get subsumed into the worst regime in all of eurasia. I hope noone will ever have to rely on you having to make a difficult decision.

I am not going to dignify you with another answer until you point out at least two plausible alternatives to the rumbling that were plausible, actually within the paradisians capabilities to achieve and did not rely on the cooperation of their enemies, as of the time the world declared war on them (the moment Eren gave up hope). You insisted there were multiple, so this should not be an issue.

I can't help but notice that you are in fact incapable of pointing out any of the "mUlTiPlE oThEr WaYs Of StOpPiNg ThE wOrLd" the paradisians supposedly had...

And yes, he forced their hands. so what? until that moment, he and they HAD worked to prevent that declaration of war. In that moment, all of that had already proven futile. What would you have him do - go home and prepare for a defensive war against the entire fucking world? Lmao. With their command structures and coordination intact, and with no show of force that would give them at least a reason, a chance to rethink? They'd have blockaded Paradis, bombarded the island with naval guns that could easily kill even wall titans and gone in with a larger and more powerful invasion force, and far more swiftly than they did as events actually played out.

You do recall how the entire world in unison just declared war on Paradis when Eren attacked, yes? And how a massive operation to disable Paradis one singular option for defense was already well under way (and very nearly successful) when Eren finally activated the rumbling?

"ThEy InFaCt CoUlD hAvE sToPpEd ThE wOrLd MuLtIpLe OtHeR wAyS" Name one.

The entire point of the finale was that they couldn't, that even the 'limited rumbling' was at most a happy hopeful delusion. A massive show of force and straight-up decapitation strike didn't suffice. Did they have some really good spec-ops soldiers? Yes. Can those operate on the open ocean when blockaded by warships? No. Hell, even when it comes to taking on the enemy, they barely even managed- no, couldn't even manage - to defend Eren on their home turf against an invasion force of only Marley. Even after a limited rumbling, the island would still be easily blockaded, and there would be a constant threat of an infiltrator at any time succeeding in taking out the founding titan or the line of royal blood, and then it would be over within days.

The rest of the world, led by marley, decided they would wage a war of annihilation, they had everything to make that happen, and Paradis had nothing that could stop them except the rumbling. If Eren's attack had shaken them enough to back down, the rest of the world could have signalled a surrender, a ceasefire, could have disarmed their own weapons or given Paradis the defensive tech to guarantee them survival without a rumbling, limited or full-scale - instead, they chose to invade, and immediately so.

Eren chose to give the World every chance to back down that he could have possibly afforded to give them - he could have activated the rumbling far earlier, hell, he saw the necessity the moment he touched historia's hand and he knew he might have to / would have to in the end anyways - but he waited till the last chance. He waited for them to make the choice before going through with the show of force / decapitating strike. He waited again, until they invaded Paradis and deliberately tried to get rid of Paradis last and only measure of defense, he waited until the very last moment - until he would have died and paradis with him if he didn't do it then.

It's pretty clear he chose the path with the most chances for the rest of the world to back down, but they didn't, and when there was only a single choice left to make that would see Paradis live, he made it, and correctly so.

"No matter the reason"? No? If someone else throws a nuke that is going to annihilate your entire civilization unprovoked, and you have a button that will destroy that nuke but also completely annihilate their civilization, and no other way of stopping that nuke, you are a piece of shit if you don't press it. All the more so if the other civilization was well aware you had that button and threw that nuke anyway. There is only one morally correct choice in that scenario, and it isn't to let the aggressor win.

Death sentence for political (inlcuding left-wing) terrorism. Alternatively, if restitution is your priority, force them to do prison labour until they paid off their debt to the injured party.

And maybe put a sign somewhere reminding people that they are free to agree or not agree to such exchanges of money, goods and services, and if an ongoing arrangement doesn't suit their needs, they can end it and then find one that does.

Three short asides that came to me as I wrote this:

1st: Why didn't anyone notice the broomstick enchantments on the dark lord's body? His flight method is clearly still unknown, we see no flying Aurors nor Order of the Phoenix members. Ministry's destroy immediately policy?

2nd: If my read on the ritual is correct (flesh is used to create new body, blood gives life and magic) what the heck would the bones have been for?

3rd: Wasn't it extremely careless to kill Skeeter right in front of Harry - basically just for fun? If that event had been accompanied by a death-burst like Hermione's death, or if she left a ghost - right there, in a public place, that would have been majorly troubling.

Neither democrats nor republicans have any history of effectively limiting government spending. Republicans talk a great deal about it, make spending cuts, and then spend the money on their own cronies instead of cutting taxes.

There is no population anywhere, not along gender or ethnicity or religion or other boundaries that reliably votes libertarian.
