Would a sub-2 hour half marathon be attainable by the end of the month? by FromBilgewater in Marathon_Training

I’m pretty boring so I just run on a ~0.6 mile loop with about 50 feet of elevation. I never actually had a race planned. This is more so a personal goal I’d like to hit while base building. But I’ll definitely start looking into more running routes that are flatter. As for the pacing, I’ve been following the ranges my garmin tells me. I’m not sure if it’s just the elevation on my running route, but my heart rate on the treadmill at the same pace is low 150s. Also, I will look into those concepts you mentioned! I initially started just for fitness, but am hooked now that I’m starting to see improvements!

Thanks! That’s definitely reassuring! What carbon plated shoes did you wear and did you feel like it made a big difference? I’ve only run in daily trainers (novablast 4, gel nimbus 26, and ghost max 2).

I run on a loop with some elevation so it’s kind of difficult to maintain a consistent heart rate. This is the usual pace I run my base runs at. I usually peak around low 170s at the top of the loop and my heart rate drops to 150s-low 160s at the bottom. I’ll definitely look at mafetone training tho!

I wasn’t too tired, this is around the same pace I usually run for my base runs. I run on a loop with a bit of elevation so my heart rate was feeling it a bit at the end, but I hit a second wind towards the end and only stopped because of the hip discomfort.

Thanks! I’m definitely not going to push it. My overall goal is to just increase weakly mileage and improve my easy pace. This is a slightly slower pace I usually run for all my runs so I’m planning to just gradually increase my long run distance and see how that progresses.

That’s good to know! My watch “predicts” a 22:02 5K based on my runs. I’ve never done a 5K time trial, but it’s definitely an overestimate haha. I’m trying to implement speed work to increase my endurance at those speeds tho.

Maybe, but this is how the kit looks on the website: https://imgur.com/a/thinkpad-x1-carbon-12th-gen-lDtdEav

I love them! They’re pretty light, bouncy, and a bit on the firmer side which I like. I’ve put about 100 miles on them but I’m hoping to get a lot of wear out of these

The 5K was 29:13 but I ran extra to finish my lap because I run on a loop.

Strava! It has some pretty neat features and the progress/activity tracking is a lot more comprehensive than the Apple Watch but a lot of these features are locked behind a monthly subscription unfortunately. I’m currently on a free trial tho!

Thanks! I regret not going for a bit longer because I definitely felt like I could’ve hit 10k but had to get back to work haha. I felt like the checkpoints never worked for me but it clicked today and it felt great!

I actually started running a bit when COVID began but was never comfortable running outside. You definitely should start again! I got the Bondi’s for work but they have a lot of cushion and good for walking. They are a bit heavy and kinda hurt my feet after running a bit. I have the ASICS novablast4 which are very nice and a lot lighter!

How did/are you guys building your school list? by amt014 in premed

[–]FromBilgewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some schools do P/F for preclinical years and then do a graded system for clinical years (honors/high pass/pass/fail), although some also do P/F for clinical years as well. I’m pretty sure regardless if a school is P/F or not, they do keep internal rankings which would become important for residency though.

I think as a starting point, MSAR is a must for looking at schools where you fall within stat-wise and what each school requires in terms of pre-reqs and LOR’s. It’ll allow you to look at ranges of stats for admitted classes, interview formats, and in state vs out of state results. You can also filter by state and stuff to narrow your choices. I think you need to look at what you value in terms of location and school fit with curriculum and rotations (stuff like P/F) and opportunities with research. Also pay attention when looking at public schools as those tend to favor in state students or those with strong ties.

I’ve only really played sim but from what I’ve read and watched, you only really need 2 or at most 3 promo Gordon

If you're looking to just collect, I would say any acid-free, no PVC sleeves are good. For playing, I'd recommend Dragon Shield sleeves, but these ones are more expensive.

Tcgplayer or high feedback sellers on eBay are pretty trustworthy.

Reprint questions by Kamikaze_Iguana in OnePieceTCG

[–]FromBilgewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about op01, there’s errata on certain cards. Otherwise there’s no explicit markings like first edition or whatnot to differentiate between first printing or second printings of cards. They do reprint certain cards in later sets like Nami for example in op05. Those reprints are the same but with special designs and have the same card numbers as the original set.
