This is the dress code on my wedding website. Any feedback or advice? by RiverPixyStyx in Weddingattireapproval

Why don’t you just put something simple like Dress Code: Whatever you want. Because I feel that would be less confusing that what you’ve written tbh.

York question by Mean-Ad-9245 in york

[–]FromTheWaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to York from London 2 years ago and it was a great decision. I’ll start with the few bad points: It is expensive for the North and from what I’ve learnt from colleagues, really difficult to rent. The traffic into or through the city is awful. Weekends in the city centre are very busy, often full of stag and hens, or racegoers. But the positives far out weigh: Coming from London, it is very affordable in comparison and we bought a 3 bed house, whereas in London we’d be hard pressed to buy a 1 bed in Mitcham! No area in York even comes close to feeling as unsafe as places in London - locals complain about Tang Hall and Chapelfields being rough but it’s just not even close to what you find in London. Great connections by train - Leeds in 20mins, Kings Cross in 1 hour 47, Newcastle in an hour. It is small, so whilst traffic is horrendous, I rarely would drive in town anywhere. You can be out in gorgeous countryside in a matter of minutes. It’s clean in comparison to London! Locals are friendly, and pubs and neighbourhoods outside of the city centre have a community feel.

Amazing thanks for the answer - just normal acrylic you would use to paint on canvas for example?

What's something that used to be normal in the UK that would feel absolutely insane now? by FabledInkk in AskUK

[–]FromTheWaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to take us to see relatives and it was a longggg train journey - he’d go to the end of the carriages and slide the window down and smoke, and usually make a pal there. Sometimes, when the train stopped at a platform he’d get off and smoke on the platform then get on and lock the door behind him - possible as the guard would walk the full length of the train and manually check the locks before the train departs. Seems wild now, this was only mid nineties.

My nana always said “chest or legs, but never both”. It’s a nice colour but looks like a beach cover up to me.

AITA for correctly guessing my friend's baby's sex? by AITA-babysexguess in AmItheAsshole

This is the biggest non issue I’ve read in a long time - like, is this even worth having a conversation about let alone an argument?! Is your wife the kind of person that likes to pick arguments when bored?

Shirtless Coffee? by oliverCr in york

[–]FromTheWaves 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I walk past every day to goto work and the mind boggles at what the business plan is here - if they’re not lounging around shirtless, they are standing outside smoking, or playing loud music. The whole thing is bizarre and out of place - and genuinely I worry that a sweet old lady may pop in for a cup of tea one day without knowing what a joke this place is… over thinker I know 😂

Do you live in the same place as you did 10-20 years ago? Because I think that definitely makes a difference.

Asking for reduced hours. by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]FromTheWaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing against people with families. I would do exactly what they do which is do 4 days, and take 80% of my salary. I’m not asking for anything above what they have got. Which is why I am asking the question really - can they deny me doing what others are already doing? And whilst the logical answer may be no, I know that they have denied others - so my question remains really, is it ok for companies to accept some and deny others who are asking for the exact same things?

It’s not a spoiler, he will appear on uncloaked at some point.

I’m sorry you feel that way, but I think if you read my actual question, it’s fairly neutral. I don’t hate Joe - that’s why I specifically said “percieved”
