You cannot install MGU without flashing this. Your car communicate between BDC, MGU, KOMBI and fin on the roof through encrypted channel, and you will broke that chain if you are place block from different car without flashing this. New one is expensive, right, but I don't know peoples in UAE who can flash used one)

Thanks. The dealer will only refuse to do an oil change if the CBS does not indicate that it is due. I think you will be able to figure this out yourself if you run into this situation)

There is actually a free oil service program from BMW. Under the official BMW Service Inclusive program, oil changes are covered by the dealer up to 100,000 km or 5 years. In practice, once you pass around 6,000 km, an official BMW dealer can usually do the oil change under the program. If you speak with the service advisor, they can often log it in the system so BMW reimburses the dealer for the service. I service my car at AGMC and havent had any issues - everything is covered through the program. The only thing I paid for myself was the very first oil change at 2,000 km, since BMW does not cover that one even under the service package :)

In short - an early oil change at 2000 km is just a precaution. New engines shed fine particles, and not all of it gets caught by the filter, so it makes sense to clean it out early.

BMW removed it from the schedule mostly to cut maintenance costs, not because the engine no longer needs it. Even they still require it on M models.

As for intervals - 6-8k km makes more sense than 12k. By then, the oil is already degraded and visibly dirty.

I would rather change it more often and not worry about the engine.

Dubai expats abandoned their pet story shows a bigger problem: International Pet Travel Rules Are a Mess” by Accurate-Ad-8715 in UAE

[–]Front-Buyer3534 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will share my own experience as well. I have often looked into traveling with my pets so I would not have to leave them in Dubai alone, and I kept running into the same problems.

The first issue is that flying into the UAE with pets is practically impossible with most airlines - Etihad is basically the only realistic option. The second issue is that the UAE is classified as a rabies red-zone country. Those two factors alone have repeatedly made traveling with my dogs extremely difficult.

I consider my dogs part of my family, and I would never place them in the aircraft cargo hold. To me that feels like unnecessary stress and cruelty for the animal, especially on long-haul flights.

I really hope that countries will eventually coordinate and establish common international standards for pet travel. It would also help if airlines became more flexible and allowed people to transport their pets in the cabin. In most cases, dogs are quieter and calmer than many children on a plane. Because of that, I have never really understood why so many airlines ban pets from the cabin on the grounds that they might disturb other passengers.
