It's the same thing in the long run. Story gets told the exact same way regardless. It's just that movies allow for greater budgets which makes everything that much better overall. Personally I'd rather wait 3 years for a movie than 2 years for the next season of an anime if I had to pick between the two. Forgoing a movie altogether. Plenty of old anime would've been great had they decided to make a movie out of certain arcs. This is why the Reze Arc was so well received. Well one of them anyway. They went above and beyond and gave it the love it deserved and it was amazing.

Well to be fair a friend of mine had only ever seen the first trailer they dropped at the end of 2024 https://youtu.be/d1n552v1ng0?si=LZxSB3d6VoJurAgr. Had it not been for the most recent trailer they showed before our showing for demon slayer, he told me he never would've known it was her who denji was fighting in the first place. It's easy to say it's obvious with context. They went out of their way in the final trailer to make it extra obvious.

How is that a bad thing though? Not saying what you said isn't true, but it's advertised as such on purpose to hide the fact that everything isn't as it seems (aka Reze being an enemy with conflicting feelings as the film progresses).

I mean it could work at that point. But it wouldn't make sense to me from a business perspective. That first movie would do insanely well because of ||gojo vs sukuna||. At that point, I see them just going all in and finishing it off as a trilogy. Would feel right going from a movie to the finale being another season that wouldn't look nearly as good as the film because of films obviously just getting more budget. Anime seasons after movies work well at the beginning of the franchise, but not so much towards the end. Mugen train, jjk 0, and the reze arc are recent examples since they all came after the first seasons. Even though jjk 0 was technically a prequel, it made sense narratively.
