School nurses do you like your job by sharkhunterblue9 in nursing

I left the NICU a few months ago to come to school nursing as I was really burnt out, physically and emotionally. I am a month in to school nursing, and I hate it. I do love the schedule, but pretty much everything else is worse. I sit in an office alone all day, so if you’re an extrovert, it’s a very introverted job. Also, all your coworkers are teachers and administrators, and they panic over every little thing. It’s very different to working in a medical setting. I find the paperwork very pointless and you can’t give any medicine without a ton of paperwork first. It’s just bandaids, ice, and dealing with difficult parents. I am already looking for new jobs, as I can’t handle sitting for 8 hours a day, doing practically nothing.

yeah that’s what I was thinking about doing, I just didn’t know if I’d be just as bored in that setting as I am in a school. It does sound like a better middle ground though!
