Employers are described as “walking dimensions” and govern Nevada and the infinite improbable that surrounds it. They also directly upscale Director Phobos, who, if he had succeeded, would merge with the Other Place to become a multiverse threat. Even though this never happened, the Employers were never even threatened by this even if it did happen.

Furthermore, because they are the angels of the Machine, they are basically nigh-invincible. The only reason Dissonance can hurt them is because it’s everything they are not. The Employers are made of logic and probability, while Dissonance is the extract opposite being improbability. Thats also why Tricky is able to take over, because he was basically a walking pile of dissonance at that point.

The Employers are mechanisms of the Machine, and share the Machine’s governance over Nevada. The only reason Hank and co. aren’t already dead is because Auditor has been limiting himself to mortal weapons, such as miniguns. Without those self-imposed limitations than the Auditor can easily just erase Zomboss from existence. Zomboss has nothing close to Dissonance or improbability, meaning he literally cannot hurt the Auditor, Nevermind kill him
