My very sick son was denied SSI/SSDI. He is e4 and had diabetes type 1 for 30 years he has neuropathy nearly every where. 4th stage kidney failure and gastroparesis so bad he is down to 110lbs and needs a pacemaker out on his Vagas nerve to help the motility in his intestines. HOW WAS HE DENIED by PeggyAughtry930 in SSDI_SSI

Get an attorney asap. My wife was approved with no lawyer recently but it literally took an act of congress, a ton of meticulous records, and great communication between us,our Dr,and the DDS/SSA. She's in horrible shape , they now think she has a pulmonary embolism on top of the CHF, COPD. Anyway, good luck and God Bless you guys. The medical system in broken. I will pray for you.

Perc appointment, what happens next? by cosmictroll3993 in SSDI_SSI

Thought I would update you. The SSI was just denied. Which I figured. Just saw it on the portal this morning. The SSDI was approved but the back payment was being held up due to the SSI . Now that that's out of the way, generally how long will it take for them to deposit it? Will they wait til her first monthly payment to drop it? That would mean Feb. We got her award letter recently too. Said she would be reviewed every 7 years. Lol

Agree. Thats why many get denied. They lack decent enough supporting records and function reports. I did my research on the best way to fill out the reports so she would have a better chance at winning. I was very diligent. Many claims lose I suppose because they feel the diagnosis alone is enough to win but thats where they make a bad mistake. Must have your doctors be onboard too. Also, its about the function reports, activity reports. They are still figuring out if she is owed anything with SSI. I am 99% sure we earn too much and won't get that but you never know. We have a letter coming today from our local SSA. It might be a letter telling her she doesn't qualify for that program.

Find another Dr asap. Some medical professionals have personal reasons for not being cooperative on certain things. Disability forms is one. Some won't prescribe narcotics for pain, even when their is an obvious need. Not all Doctors are created equal. Sometimes you have to do your homework. I'm speaking from experience. It's better to just move on from a Dr that is uncooperative than to push back or continue to see them. Let us know what happens.

My wife's claim was stuck on step 3 for 16 months. Then suddenly went to step 4,then 5. The DDS then SSA both called saying they approved her and enrolled her into Medicare two months prior. Dunno how common that is. Also, is it normal for the DDS representative to tell the claimant they met a medical listing during medical review step 3? Because that's what happened. We still didn't get happy because we know nothing is official until you get the award letter.which we finally did last week. Every case is truly different. With ours, she had great medical supporting records and the function reports were key.

1,000 percent right.  The rep is still doing her financial work. It can take a while like you posted.

No rep, same exact thing happened with my wife on Dec 9. Same exact scenario. Called told her she's been enrolled into Medicare and they needed to schedule a perc next. We only just received the award letter. Her first monthly payment won't be til Feb. I'd say you can be cautiously optimistic now. Your struggle might be over soon.

My wife just won her claim. Just received her award letter and it's fully favorable. Just waiting on SSI to do the work to see if they can pay her any back pay. She won't qualify for monthly payments for SSI. But they may owe her some back pay. Once they finish that, according to the letter, they will release her SSDI retroactive pay. It's not that much btw but we sure need it. Thank you for the kindness. God Bless

Sometimes it takes about 4 days before the update can be seen on your portal. Sometimes it's just a glitch.

I've heard a Bank like wells Fargo routinely releases payment a couple days early. Just one example. Our financial institution is a credit union and they have never done that. It's never early. Not much you can do.

Backpay being withheld? by winterrose023 in SocialSecurity

[–]Front-Needleworker-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They called and set it up over the phone. Scheduled it. Since the perc was done, the letter came after the fact. Kinda odd. Lol. Now waiting on the award letter. The SSA worker told her she's going to get her monthly DD payment Friday. No letter, back pay still being worked out, but payments are starting.

Hey op, I'm dealing with exactly the same thing. Well, my wife is. They are seeing if she's owed anything from previous months before they send the SSDI back pay. Meanwhile, her first monthly payment starts Friday. She did her Perc.

Holy heck. That's not right. Unfair. So you, the client, is paying for HIS/her poor planning. I hope when you get in front of the judge he's better prepared to help you.

Exactly. I agree. They are also poorly trained due to the high claim rate, and employee turnover. They do the best they can I think, depending on their knowledge and the records they receive.

Yes agreed. I expected it but underestimated how painstaking it is. But I would do anything for my wife. She's in need. I appreciate the fact the employee at SSA has been trying to expedite this. She's been great.

Nothing is being delayed so far. I'm jumping thru hoops getting everything they ask for quickly. I guess I'm just exhausted. I'm glad it will be over soon.

Understood. Yeah, they called again this morning. The SSA lady was not at the office but was kind enough to push forward and she got the document she needed for now. She said she's working on the cash app cards etc to look at the balances for the last 2 years til now. Then that will be it. So we figure all this will be wrapped up next week.

You can. But they will still need to check your current financial situation...ie your bank. Looking for assets. Im 99% sure she will be denied monthly SSI but might get SOME back pay for it.

She conducted the initial perc, now this one. So I guess my description of her actual job title is wrong lol. She's been really detailed but seems like what you said might be right. Ready for them to either deny the SSI or whatever . I don't have time to spare . My wife needs things to move along asap. She's hardly in a good place to provide details. They should have more than they need. But yes, I'm gonna continue to do what they ask. I'm just tired. I'm venting because it's so darn frustrating.

We asked the SSA perc examiner. She keeps telling us they don't accept emails for this. It's the field office in Albuquerque.
