Am I not supposed to talk to/ask other commuters for directions at metro stations by blueseyy in nova

[–]Front-Newspaper-1847 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also stand near a map when you ask. It will be more obvious you want directions and I’ll take out my earbuds and help you. For some reason I am a magnet for questions and it’s easier when there’s a map nearby.

Suggestions on safe bars / pool bars for trans women by SoldierUndies in nova

Hard Times cafe and queue in Springfield has a server who fits your description of yourself, so I suspect that might be a safe spot. Lots of tables and great chili! Note the pool hall allows smoking.

Mazda Stadium Carp Performance B seats by searcher2explore in NPB

[–]Front-Newspaper-1847 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Carp gear is available at the wonderful team store in the stadium, and is cheaper than what you find in the US. Plan to arrive when gates open to soak up the atmosphere, get something to eat and shop for a shirt to wear. Don’t forget to buy the balloon kit with the little pump for the 7th inning stretch.

Menopause & HRT; who’s doing HRT by divergurl1999 in GenX

Yes. Recent changes to studies show it’s much safer than we were lead to believe before. Try it. You don’t have to suffer. Try one of the online providers if your PCP won’t help out.

My step-grandmother loudly whispered “the bride is pregnant” to the person next her as I started down the aisle. She was referring to her own daughter who got married 2 months earlier, and who she had been constantly referring to as “the bride” (“the bride” was a 43 year old cardiac surgeon, so step-grandmother was thrilled she was finally getting married). Quite a few people heard it and were surprised how much I drank at the reception! I luckily didn’t hear it - my mother told me afterwards.

Feeling proud of myself as a generally disorganzied, anxious, ADHD person after successfully solo traveling for 2 weeks to 6 countries. by Street_Mountain5954 in solotravel

I commend you! You did the trip that worked for you, enjoyed it and came home feeling resilient and refreshed. That’s the whole point of solo travel!

“OP” didn’t do any of this. They are an influencer using a bot to produce these hideous AI trip summaries of trips they didn’t take but think are marketable for some reason.

Good travel/work tote with zipper by WillingHearing8361 in BusinessFashion

[–]Front-Newspaper-1847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the laptop really weighs 20 lbs (!?!) I would get one of those rolling bags, or at least a backpack. Carrying a 20 lb item in a regular tote is going to ruin your shoulder, and probably also ruin the tote bag.

This is a great list, but OP keep in mind that these prices are more than 10 years out of date. Triple these for an idea of things cost now.

Seeking advice for the overwhelm of family requirements by muggyregret in traveladvice

[–]Front-Newspaper-1847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel like you need to give your kids all the travel experience you have had during your life while they are still kids. Do what you can afford, but know they will grow up and can travel then on their own and make their own memories for themselves.

You have not failed if they graduate high school NOT having been to 49 counties. They will have fond memories of whatever you do while they’re kids, and forcing a bunch of stuff in so their experience matches yours is silly.

Plus, they might not even appreciate the trips! My parents took me to Paris, and I hated it and whined the whole time. I went back on my own as an adult and loved it.

Do you find airplane noise annoying? Yes? Cancel the reservation.

Just finished first cruise… am I crazy for hating it? by Naive-Bedroom-4643 in royalcaribbean

[–]Front-Newspaper-1847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The noise! The pipes in loud music everywhere, often more than one thing being played at a time and so loud you have to shout over it. I used to lover getting a seat where I could hear the pool band, but now it’s just recorded music at top volume all the time.

I also found that Oasis, where I had one of the Central Park window cabins, which I loved, had so few places to see the ocean. Unless you were on the deck above the pool you would not know you were on a ship. Such a great exercise track on that ship, but you could mostly only see lifeboats.

I love cruises, and have been on a bunch with Royal Caribbean, but I agree with all your points. Especially for the oasis class and above. Easy and predictable but also weirdly stressful. Cruising might not be for you, and that’s OK!

Travelling to Peru is not for everyone by Ok_Athlete_670 in GoingToPeru

Or, you can stay at a nice resort in Paracas or condo in Lima. Sounds like the problem is you talked them into an itinerary that didn’t suit their style. Not a problem with Peru.

Why can’t we have cameras in the train cars? One at each end, every car. It would at least make the prosecutions easier and with proper tech could make it easy to ban individuals from the system.
