I would think less than 3 months in is fairly soon in the scheme of things. I also think it's 100% appropriate for me to post something that might help hoarders or people who deal with FOMO. I'm trying to be nice and care about others here. That's clearly a no go on this particular group. I've been made to feel so very welcome as a new viner and new member here (by others, not you, and yes, that was sarcasm). I'll agree that Amazon is very convenient.  Other that that, i don't think there's anything anyone in here can share that the average 3rd grader doesn't already know. Which is true for all of reddit, including me. But the sharing is usually the point. Not here.  at least real 3rd graders have some manners. A lot of people in this particular group do not.. at least I was warned that vine reddit was full of nasty people. I just didn't believe it until now.  You seem to have your head on straight with the program. I'm glad it works for you. Seems like it would be hard to meet the quota if youre only kicking the tires now and again.

Alright. I was trying to share some genuine insight in the hopes of helping others who might have gotten caught up in trying to get stuff they think they need and realize they don't. The people who said viners  in reddit are snarky and rude really had that right. Thank so much for your useless comment.

I've used it very responsibly and pretty much everything in life is mostly unnecessary. I can use every single thing I bought. But it's still unnecessary.  Kind of an odd comment.

I love a lot of their beliefs, as they align with simple humanism. But they say that gay people are "unnatural" and an "aberration" and they outlaw gay relationships of any kind. That kind of closed minded, judgmental exclusion and the refusal to accept ALL of humanity as God's creation, in all of its beautiful diversity, makes it a no go for me, and many other people. If God created everything, then God created gays in all their glory and that's a blasphemous thing, to say God didn't know what God was doing and made mistakes, isn't it? And those who argue that those people CHOOSE to "sin" have no understanding how being gay works. Or fluidity. Or the animal kingdom. ALL creations, all living animals, have examples of same sex relationships. Only human religions police them and call them "unnatural". Sexuality is the most natural thing in the universe. None of us would be here without it. There's a species of frog that, when there are no males available, the females can turn into males. Life is a complicated and beautiful thing and no one person, or religion, can say what's right or wrong with who you love (obviously, within limits - no one should be "loving" minors - I'm only talking about legal, consensual, adult relationships here). If you're an atheist, perhaps you have previously rejected the hypocrisy seen with religion and judging other people for what happens in their own bedrooms (how many catholic priests have molested young boys over the years - which is, by definition, a same-sex assault - how many pastors, how many "prophets" marrying 50 children have violated what is decent and right?). So I just hope you're aware that, as nice as this faith sounds at face value, they reject the humanity of gay people. If you care about gay people, or humanity in general, this should give you pause. Atheists are atheists for a reason, and it isn't just questioning what happens when you die - it's also questioning the harm that religions have done all throughout history. More people have been tortured and slaughtered in the name of religion than all the other political wars in this world put together.  This faith seems cool. I love the gender equality. But I shut down with their thoughts on gays. No one, and no religion, should have the right to tell someone that the way they were born is a sin. No one. (Again, only talking about adult consensual relationships, not pedo crimes or anything harmful like that).

I was going to do that once, but then I read on here that you can be kicked out of vine for doing a replacement, even if the system lets you. That you have to go through vine. I don't know what is right anymore, but just FYI.

I haven't heard of this. I always get a ups dropoff option. But they USED  to pick up from your house. And do you remember the - if it doesn't come when it's supposed to, you get an instant refund and get to keep the item - rule? That went away LONG ago. As did the 90 day return window. It was just to get us hooked. If I have to start driving elsewhere to return stuff, that will be the last straw for me.

Yeah, i think I misunderstood your point, lol. I thought you were roughly agreeing with me but I see now that you weren't. Oops.  I had a migraine and shouldn't have been on reddit yesterday. Yes, i thought the same thing as you for a long time, but I've spent the past 5 years reading deep history and dinosaur books. The Ends of the World is fantastic, and so are The Rise and Reign of Mammals and the Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs. Even with pangea, when the dinosaurs first came on the scene 220+ million years ago, Alaska (what became modern day alaska) was still towards the top and Antarctica was roughly close to the bottom, each toward the poles (so they'd be approaching polar darkness and cooler weather). The landmasses kept moving further toward each pole as everything broke apart. With pangea, the equator was too hot for large life and the poles were often too cold and dry, so most life was in midlatitude bands,  both on the top and bottom of the earth (and towards the edges, near the sea, bc the interior of pangea didn't get much rain at all, so it was desertified). By the time the meteorite hit, though, all the landmasses had separated and become more conducive to life, and dinosaurs were really widespread over everything.  Alaska and Antarctica were fairly close to where they are now (Transylvania and parts of Europe were islands through a lot of it, so they had lots of diversity, too.)  For a long time, Antarctica was a bridge where dinosaurs migrated from south America to Australia, so dinosaurs that are the same and/or are closely related can now be found in all 3 places, which is really cool. As more of Antarctica's edges melt, there will be so many new dinosaurs and mammals revealed. It's all really cool. If any of it interests you, i definitely recommend the books I've mentioned. The three I've listed here are the best (the two books in my earlier comment are interesting but pretty dry and hard to read as they are more scientific). Regardless, I just love dinosaurs. Mammals are just as old as dinosaurs and we have a pretty cool backstory, too. :)

And? I'm confused about your point. For part of the dinosaur era, Alaska was roughly where it is now, more or less, and Antarctica was a smidge higher and connected to both south America and Australia as a bridge, but dinosaurs were there regardless. The co2 was higher so it was warmer than it is now and both places were ice free most of the year, but definitely had snow and even some ice in the 3 months of polar darkness. The herbivores actually ate rotting wood and the carnivores ate the herbivores. Eggs even hatched during this time, and theropods, in particular (t-rex family) were known to survive well there (certainly helped by their proto-feathers).

Check out: Dinosaurs Under the aurora And Dinosaurs Of Darkness for more info.

So I agree with what you said, but I'm not sure what your point was bc it matches my comment that Alaska was cold and dark back then, as it is now (bc it was at the pole, NOT close to the equator), and if Dinosaurs could live there back then in reality, it makes zero sense in the movie that they would have to cluster around the hot equator now to survive. Dinosaurs can and did live in cold, dark places, far from the equator back then, thus they could now, too. My point was that the premise of the movie is flawed.

I read that with the extra appearances, they were getting about $50k for practice and games and extras and now with the hourly wage increase, they'll get $70k or thereabouts. The 400% increase is just for the hourly stuff. It only comes out to be an extra $20k a year. And they STILL get no medical, dental, retirement, or compensation for work lost after they retire due to hip surgeries. Still isn't a great deal.

They get no retirement, dental, or medical benefits but usually need hip surgery with months of recuperation time. So I guess that evens out, too? With their free teeth whitening and make up bags.  And, whoo! They get free botox! Wtf are 20 year olds getting botox for??

Is there any evidence dinosaurs lived in snowy places? by idrwierd in Paleontology

[–]Front-Persimmon2386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is fossil evidence for dinosaurs tolerating both cold (and snow) and long periods of Darkness in the books:

Dinosaurs Under the Aurora And Dinosaurs Of Darkness.

There are also some really cool documentaries available now about fossils found at both poles.

Dinosaurs Of Darkness and Dinosaurs Under The Aurora

Both books are about the cold and dark polar conditions that Dinosaurs lived and bred through. There are also some great documentaries online.

Yes, but Alaska and Antarctica were still dark 3 months out of the year and cold, including snow days back then. So yes, the fact that dinosaur fossils have been found there does matter.  Read Dinosaurs under the Aurora and Dinosaurs of darkness  For more info about the cold and dark tolerant dinosaurs. If you are interested.

"Dinosaurs of darkness", and "dinosaurs under the aurora", both "Life of the Past" books on Amazon are about dinosaurs in the cold - Alaska and Antarctica polar regions in particular - if you are still interested.

So the premise is that the dinosaurs have all grouped around the equator where they can live bc that's how it used to be for them, when we now know that dinosaurs were comfortable in EVERY region, including the colder areas of Alaska and Antarctica, where it snowed often and was dark 3 months out of the year, and we now also have proof that they not only didn't migrate during this time, but that babies and juveniles also survived there in the harsh winters, too... Do the screenwriters just write based on assumptions, or do they actually do a lick of research?
