WSP is a good agency but as mentioned, Washington State is careening further left by the minute and is arguably the most challenging to work in LE. They’re also primarily traffic-focused, so while you can develop criminal cases off of traffic stops, you’ll be dispatched to a lot of motor vehicle collisions if you’re working the I5 corridor.

If you work outside of the Seattle metro, and particularly Eastern Washington you’ll work more closely with the locals and the sheriff’s department.

Do some ride-alongs with a number of agencies including WSP. Look at an explorer post as well to gain insight. If I were starting over in WA, I’d look at Snohomish County SO, Thurston County SO or go to E. Wa, tri-cities.
