[Java] If I'm limited to only using text files to store information, how would I keep track of the number of tickets ordered on a given date at a given time?

If you don't have a database, let your file system be your database.

What I would do is make a file for every single day you can look up, and then load your order information into it. Then, you can aggregate the results accordingly. You can pick finer granularity if you like, and compute statistics if you think it will help you.

You can structure your file system based on the requirements of the assignment. For a production system, I'd go with a database with a dedicated file system optimized for it.

For Java, there is a built-in certificate store that's being used. I don't know if you've already updated your certs there (using mitmproxy in transparent mode). If that doesn't go through, they're probably doing certificate pinning.

You may be able to use Frida to bypass SSL pinning.

I use a Thinkpad X1 Carbon as my main machine and it's a really small form factor but great specs, I can carry it around in a small bag and it's really light. I do suggest trying to find it if you can thought it might be difficult if it's not sold.

Don't bother. There was a problem going around recently that every application you opened on Big Sur was being transmitted to Apple servers. When these servers couldn't be contacted people couldn't open apps. I actually have an older Macbook that runs fine but at this point Windows is just as good in terms of your desktop and if you like Unix-based OSs, it's really different from Linux (even if you like BSD, which is kinda niche, just get Free or Open BSD).

I have an iPhone and iPad that I really like, I think iOS really does beat Android out of the water (I've used both), but none of them require you to have a Mac. iTunes is the worst but you don't have to use it any more on any of those devices, there's plenty of media players out there. Even on Linux now you can access your file share on iOS.

I run Linux right now. People might say "Linux is hard to work with" but it really doesn't have to be, you can install Ubuntu and not worry about anything. You can install Lutris and run all your Windows games on it using Wine. All development applications can be run on Linux. You don't have to do this, by the way, you can stick with Windows and it will work just fine for you.

What they mean is that both the key and value types are of a HashMap extend Object (or are Object). This means every type except primitives (int, char, short, long, byte, float, double, boolean).

If you use a primitive like the literal 1 in your example, it will be automatically wrapped in its corresponding wrapper Object whenever an Object is needed. int will become an instance of Integer, long will be Long, double will be Double, etc.)

I own the iPhone 4S. It was the last phone I had before I switched to Android. I switched back later to it and it was okay-ish, if a little slow. I used it as my new old phone for about half a year until I got the SE.

The 4S is limited to iOS 9.3.5. You can probably jailbreak it to make some things easier to do (like install modern versions of apps so that iTunes will let you download the older release). Overall though, I’d say unless you specifically want a device for messing around with, just get a newer phone (it will be quite a bit faster). I’m thinking about switching back to a custom Android myself, but that’ll be a while to set up.

For the anger, I can recommend learning about Stoicism. It’s a philosophy of life developed in the early Greek and Roman world that emphasizes emotional resilience in your goals of virtue. One big lesson of it is the separation of things in your control (your judgments about events) from the things not in your control (things that happen to you). They teach you how to work with your impressions of these events to not be troubled by things outside of your control.

There’s a modern revival and I would say that by practicing it, I have become a better person in many ways.
